Fabrication Items...

I've noticed in the fabrication section, there are some common items that people are always asking about, and no cheap solution is currently available.

The first item that comes to mind are simply USB slots... Getting small slots cut into a piece of ABS/PE/PP/ACR is simple for a laser/CNC. However, not everyone has access to this. However, if a simple USB plate were offered, most have the skill to either weld in flush or modify it as a separate bezel.

Good idea!

I purposely bought all my connectors with faceplates on them with the intentions of cutting out chunks and welding them into my plastic bezel to avoid cutting my own holes.
Somebody should design a one-off piece of plastic with a bunch of holes in it, like a big sheet. Run a few hundred of those and let people buy them and cut out what they need!

It could have a bunch of USB holes, some audio connector holes, ethernet, VGA, whatever shapes people might need.

i've got the USB cig lighter replacement from mp3car and that works well for me. I've also in the past bought PCI usb hubs and unscrewed the binding post so that you have 4 ports easily mountable.

this is a very easy way to go. i have 2 port brackets in a box from old motherboards ive bought... if i didnt have the capability to custom fit my own stuff they would make a very easy way to add some usb ports say inside a glovebox or ashtray...
