Interesting, so you think the page should kind of squish down a little bit? I will see what we can do with that. That may work out for the better in the long run as well. I would like to have an option to hide it entirely maybe as well in the end.

Liking a lot of the development ideas on this one so far. Hoping that it turns out well so that I can start using it
A thought for the heart container... Umm... 1) a little fruity IMHO, but 2) More importantly is the fact that everyone is very familiar with the star rating system... Not that a heart wont work... But how are you going to fill/unfill that heart on a 7" touchscreen monitor with your finger? Maybe its just because I'm not sure how your going to make it function, but attempting to fill a heart on a touchscreen will be a challenge, at least I would think so.
I do like the idea of rating songs, having an active playlist, most played, etc... Thats brilliant for sure... Just might wanna look at the difficulty of using the touchscreen with fat fingers an such

Also the top with the song title spot, that looks beautiful Having that there all the time is nice. Also with the "Home/House" button that hides the bottom bar, how much processing power/graphical power does that take? Just adding it up, you've got your music playing, you've got a GPS program (iGuidance for many people), you may have your mobile phone app running to answer phone calls, and now your adding a beautiful sliding transparent bar, and most people are using onboard graphics with ~1-1.5ghz processors. Thats just a thought though... I may be way out in left field on that, but beautiful interfaces come at a price normally.
Dont get me wrong, I do like the idea of the home button there and having access to some other functions, maybe shortcuts (or even user defined shortcuts according to what they want) and the like... But as I was thinking about that I caught myself thinking about how my M10000 might not handle it. But again, I may be wrong, it might handle it all just fine, but something to think about or throw out there for thought.

Really looking forward to testing this and seeing how it all works out

Thanks for the feedback executor. The heart system is just One click to fill, another to break, and another click to take it back to its original state. Sure we could use a star but everyone in the world uses a star. I just want a different shape. Heck, A circle would be fine with me.

I do understand that all of these things may take up a lot of processing power, but we are working on an incredibly streamlined delphi system and are hoping we can run all of this without skipping a beat. But hey, I would rather overplan and overdesign than do the opposite. Shoot for the moon and you'll hit the stars as they say.

Thanks again for the feedback we both really appreciate it.

I was one of the people who *****ed when Zune introduced their heart rating system, but I have to admit that I like the idea of rating by clicking the same thing a couple times more than rating by clicking one of five stars, just because it takes less screen space this way.

I plan to only sync to my car the songs that I've rated 4 or 5 stars though, so I'm OK with whatever you do in this department.

Hey guys. Just another Library and Header concept page we are working with right now

A problem I'm running into right now is that we want to display a lot of information for the user on the extended header area [ the darker bottom part of the header]
All of which would also be buttons if so desired to go to different areas.

You have your network connection button, satallite/gps button, bluetooth, all your phone stuff, and than your audio details.

Any ideas on where to put some of this or get rid of some of it? Maybe let the user choose which buttons are on top in the configuration would be easiest.

So you can also see here the main library listing page.
Just a sneak preview. The buttons on the right are Library/Playlist view switch, add and remove media, switch file view I think is in there somewhere. Theres a very wide PLAY or load playlist button on the top which I think is a cool idea. [which is more visable when the extended header fades away]

The artwork looks great.

I vote to leave that stuff off the header. Let each page be dedicated as much as possible to one single purpose (Library, in the screenshot above) and put unrelated stuff on other pages - dedicated phone, network, GPS, BT, etc pages.

If a user goes to the library pages it's because they wanted to mess with the library. Everything else is a distraction from that, so keep it to a minimum. It's reasonable to require the user to click the 'home' button and drill down if they decide that they want to do navigation (which should be 1 click from the home screen) or adjust network settings (could be 2 or more clicks from home, since how often is that needed?).

You make a good point, I guess you dont really need all of that information on there. I think by default we will have the minimum of information on the header than in the settings the user will be able to pick and choose what they'd like on there. Thanks man!

Nah, this is good insight. We are just two guys with no a lot of experience. We're just doing this for fun right now. It pays to get feedback who are in different backgrounds and use different programs.

Like what external programs are to be controllable from inside the program? What would be interested in seeing?

jsn / ZanGManN,

Nice work, really looks good. Are you guys planing to release the source under GPL or some other licensee? Or not release it at all?

We're definitely going to release it as soon as we get a stable release together with a majority of the basic features everyone expects. Not too sure about the entire source but we are planning on making the programs as configurable as possible and hopefully going to have an SDK as well.

Thanks for the compliments as well too guys!

Personally I use iGuidance for navigation, but I don't think much (anything?) is required for iGuidance vs. any other nav software.

A generic "launch external application" feature would be cool though, to support whatever else that comes up in the future. Radar detection, HVAC, OBDII, etc.
