Cool

I am by no sense an expert just an everyday user but I've been using these front ends since around 1999 and can tell you that of everything out there RR ( which took a long time to say as I was truly a Frodo believer...I prefer windows media Player) is probably the most versatile there is but the new skins are just to slow... I have no patience to wait, it is distracting to say the least. The best skin so far in my opinion is lsx void anyone and I mean anyone can maneuver around on that skin and with buttons commonly placed across the top and bottom you can use this skin at a glance. Copy from media drive is defiantly essential; it would be nice to have programmable shortcuts for file integration and placement. A drag and drop playlist would be cool then you could see on the fly what's going in your playlist. Having Iguidance in the background of the playlist like a transparent vis that you could toggle at just a touch or double tap on the screen would be cool.... Now I'm just pipe dreamin but good luck on your project and Remember Frodo may be gone but not forgotten, his front end was very fast for the times...

I've been watching this post in anticipation, im really looknig forward to trying this new frontend.
But just one thing, are you gonig to have a launch external program feature as i will be wanting to use it as a primary shell once all bugs are worked out.
Also will you have support for USB radio, over this side of the world its all we can get.

all i have to say to you guys is keep it up; i can honestly say out of all the front ends out there, this looks the most functional and user catered front end.

Question.. wondering about skinning and how thats gonna be all setup?/

Hi!

I've had a very busy couple of weeks, with a small vacation in between.

However, I managed to rebuild the graphics core. Performance is excellent right now.
I can add features to the core easily now. Scripting is already working, in fact, the
current development versions contains a 3-screen skinned, scripted and animating GUI.
It also supports realtime contrast/brightness adjustments and, for experimental purposes,
a grayscale feature (I can't think of a practical use for this).

About the support for radio's. I won't support a particular piece of hardware.
It will be hard for me to obtain a specific piece of hardware, and also important,
I'm not the most wealthy person on earth
What I do support is an extensive API to interface different modules.
These modules, or plugins, will handle the support for a radio-tuner or some other piece of
hardware/software. But for this part of the project, it is yet too early to decide.
I will try to implement what I currently have ofcourse (although it's a
Pinnacle USB P.O.S. radio/tv/dvb tuner )

Right now I'm trying to focus as much as I can on this project again.
Although don't expect a beta for the next couple of weeks. But I'll be working hard on it.
This thread is far from being dead. It was sleeping.. I just had a busy time, thats all.

Also, keep an eye on the wiki, it tells a lot about the current state and features!
It gets updates from me regulary.

Hope you guys don't give up on this project. I promise it will be worth it.
I'm an 'old-skool' kind of person. I like fast running, optimized code.
And I'll try everything to make it fast as possible. It might have a little less to offer than a
Flash-based environment graphically-wise, but otherwise it will be feature rich enough to
compensate.

To let you see what I'm talking about with the brightness I've created a small screenshot compilation.

Hi jsn,
I can help you with HQCT support, BTW the HQCT DLL and CPCTuner are both written in Delphi 7.

Regards,
Putput

Hello everyone. This is Zangmann, the other half of CarMa, but now I have a new account name. I just wanted to update the people who were following this thread.

We took a little break at the end of last year but we are back 100% working on CarMa and will be posting a few more screenshots in the days to come. We now have a working library system with the ability to load and unload multiple libraries and directories, an extremely lightweight audio system with a scrubber time line, basic GPS implemented, and an external application that, if you so choose, will be a stand alone control panel that will control CarMa's settings.

We are really excited about this application and will hopefully begin alpha testing to the public in Q2 2009.

Thanks everyone!

Thread closed but kept for archive reasons.

This thread became obsolete since we now have our own little corner of mp3car.com!
