The maps will be from one of the two top map data suppliers and it is not the one with HQ in Illinois :-) That is all I can say about the navigation right now.

There will be several "editions". Depending on functionality, some will be under USD 100, some won't. The exact pricing and more importantly the functionality of particular editions depend on our marketing guy.

Yes, a little delay due to Christmas, but we are back in business. A new build will be available for testers later today or on Monday.
At the moment we have the media playback plug-ins almost complete, I finished the GPS module today (just displaying data and handling comms with the device, not the navigation yet). Small stuff such as clock, stowatch etc is also complete. Main priority for next week is OBD.

its obviosuly a cocoa app - running C as the main compiler but what type of database do you plan on hosting the GPS POI's in?

The POIs are stored in standard .ov2 file, which is widely used by for example TomTom devices.

Since I am waiting for my colleague to finish few bits for the new beta release, I spent few hours on Google maps plug-in for QCar. Despite few problems with the API I encountered, it seems to be pretty usable - certainly for POIs and current position display, possibly also for navigation (in Enterprise version). So we will probably be giving this plug-in away for free as a low-end alternative to the full navigation.

At this moment, this is the only thing you can see. I will add fullscreen view and some support for position cursor/heading indicator and possibly some track display and POIs during this weekend.

Those images make the map look like it will be really really small on a 7" screen. Same with video, why is everything so small?
I have a 7" lilliput running in my carputer if you'd like me to test, I'd like me to test too
