Im very interested in this. I was going to write a pretty minimal front end for my car but this seems to be leaps and bounds ahead of what I was planning on doing. When do you anticipate it will be available to purchase?

We have not yet made the final decision on whether we will sell the software separately or only as part of our complete solution. We are currently testing this in 3 cars, the software is behaving pretty well, so our original deadline March 15th seems to be doable.

That would be pretty sweet. I'll be waiting.

Something like that. But since it is a commercial product, I am not sure how far I can go on this forum. Will check the rules and eventually get back to this.

Just remember
A bunch of us already installed our macs / displays / etc in our cars, and are willing to pay for a frontend, but won't be so warm and fuzzy about having to add hardware.

We are aware of this situation and currently evaluating all the pros and cons.

what do you mean by adding hardware? Buying a mac mini preloaded with your software, or buying a GPS unit with your software?
As SEGgeek mentioned many of us (if not everyone) have a mac of one form or the other and want to use it for the project, so it would be kind of pointless to buy another one, unless of course you cold offer it dirt cheap

Jirka you said that you were going to be implementing a XM program in the second quarter of this year. I would like to know what hardware that this will support in order to finish ordering my pieces. Just like the GPS is it going to be item specific?

Now with that hat off, I would recommend some YouTube-like demos of your software in action if you can. Most of us have been watching your progress over the past few months seeing what you turned out :-)

For GPS we support the NMEA standard and we have tested the software with several different receivers - serial, USB and Bluetooth, so I do not expect any problems there.
As for the XM / Sirius - a friend of mine is doing some research right now in the US, but any suggestions are welcome. We need a compact unit, that can take +12V or lower and can be controlled over USB (eventually serial but since this would mean an additional adapter, we prefer USB) and preferably has optical output.

The idea is to
- have self-install kits with hardware (including cables, connectors for non-destructive installation etc.) and software
- offer the installation services including heavy customizations thru our partners
in both cases, there will be an option of using customer's own Mac mini. I should have more details shortly, but will talk to the moderators first.

Very interested in this, sure most people running Macs are, really hope the software will be available stand alone, or have I missed something?
