Very interested but only if there are maps.
We do have some, ehm, interests in Australia, but the situation with maps there is quite complicated due to virtual monopoly of Sentis. But there appears to be an alternative now. Hopefully we will be able to tell more after March 15th.

You could always just buy the data off sensis...
Of course, it largely depends on how deep your pockets are!
I'm intrigued - what's the alternative? All Australian road maps belong to Sensis for all intents and purposes, even self-made maps from what I've heard. Part of an old hand-me-down to Telstra...
We do have good maps though.

oh did you know that this thing also makes wonderful fresh bread? it uses the heat of your engine to bake it, you just have to add a bag of flower and some water each time you refil your car

I beta tested that function, while it was useful, I found that 10-40 tasted too 'oily' for my tastes, and suggest only using that feature on bio-diesal cars.

So the new build 1.36 is out there (some of you know where). We did not manage to include few things that we wanted, so there will be some smaller releases (just modules) in the coming week. Check the history file carefully, one of the features some people may like is the option to change the default colours.

Strange, I never thought about the QCar GUI as being Mac-like. It actually took us quite a lot of time and effort to get rid of the Mac stuff (like Aqua-look) and simplify the interface :-D

Well it depends on how deep the pockets of local customers are and how many of them there are. We are not going to subsidize the Australian market.

The alternative is Navteq. From what we know, they are now offering Australian maps too.

Really love the look of this app! Been out of the car pc scene for a number of months and to come back to this is fantastic!
Hats off to you!
Sorry for rambling, just had to say

I'm really willing to pay for a front end this good looking and functional, but only if it offers Aus maps - that's what's made me hold fire on swapping to windows and buying streetdeck, along with the fact that it requires proprietary bluetooth hardware and so on.
If you offered a package (with OBDII, Bluetooth phone functionality and moddability) with Aus maps for a reasonable price - say less than 250 euros - I'd definitely get it - end of story
If volume in the aus market is a problem (mac+car here is probably a rarity) and this price seems unattainable then perhaps we can work something out.
I'm just about to finish installation of my mac mini and screen, and will be looking at OBDII/GPS receivers next so I'd love the opportunity to try your front end out and hopefully base my purchases around compatibility with it.
Good to know that Sensis' monopoly is finally rolling off.

I said Mac like, not mac look people. Learn to read. Apple is all about simplicity and that is what the GUI is. There is not fluff and unnecessary garbage and that makes it very mac like.
Don't just on a compliment before you read it. Mac like isn't aqua. People try to make aqua apps and they look terrible. The only good aqua apps are those made in Cocoa.

So any updates? I'm soooo anxious . Will we have some good updates on the 15th? Also it would be nice to see some sort of a price breakdown and such or at least see what you guys are planning to do.

lol You have no idea what you're talking about, do you? I love when people throw out all the developer terms like Aqua, Cocoa, Carbon, etc, without having a clue what they actually are. Thanks for the laugh!
