CarPal V0.40- Release Candidate 1
I've decided to put up a release candidate for V0.40 for people to try if they want. This has all the features listed in the Upcoming Features post stickied at the top. It should be faster than the previous versions of CarPal due to the heavy amount of threading that has been implemented, and rather significantly faster on dual core/HT machines. Without further adieu...
https://sourceforge.net/project/down...zip&a=29902341
I'm hoping for a final release within a week or two... but I said that a week or two ago.

Wow, 21 downloads. That's a crazy number of downloads (for me at least). I'm glad people are at least trying this out.
I'm very interested to hear from people who try it. Let me know what's stopping you from installing it on your carpc. I figure that's the best way to get this fully functional is to hear from people as to what it's missing. I've been adding features as I've seen that I need them (as well as from the feature requests page) but that really doesn't encompass the "This is nice (or crap), I'd put it in my car except...." category.

Doesnt work for me. I extract to it to a folder than try to run it and get this message
"This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix the problem."
Are there dependencies that I need to install first?

Cool stuff! I gave this version a test and I like the skinning implemetation. I see some potential into this becoming a great FrontEnd.
Audio Player/Browser is working with low CPU but I think theres a memory leak somewhere.
Just want to trow a suggestion out there...
- The current skinning idea is based on backgrounds and 'invisible' click areas on top. I would like to be able to also define a background image for a button so you get more freedom on re-using 'button' images and skin layout.

Dan: could you give some more details of the memory leak you're seeing? Is memory constantly going up when just playing songs, or when switching songs? Also, are you using process explorer ( http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb896653.aspx) or windows task manager? Task manager improperly reports REAL memory usage. It repots cached memory size which is allocated and deallocated by the OS realtime iirc, real memory usage is privately allocated bytes which should not being going up. I'll look into it.
Thanks for the comments! Separate backgrounds for buttons shouldn't be too difficult to implement I'll look into it since you're the second person to mention it

Yeah I just had a quick look in Task manager and it was just going up while playing music, but in PE the private bytes stay at around 175288 K so I guess its ok.

That's likely due to the way that I pass the song position around. The memory locations move around but the actual memory used doesn't go up any. If any other program needs that cached memory windows will clean it up automatically for it.
