Which omamp

Hi there.. I have this sound card in my computer. Last week I bought ONKYO receiver and I connected it with prodigy card with an optical cable. I still have stock Opamps. Could you tell which opamps should I change to obtain a better sound? Or it doesn’t matter while it's connected via optical cable? Thanks for your advice.

Opamps are only used when you connect the analog outputs. Optical out bypasses the digital to analog convertion. In your case that you use optical connection your receiver makes all the ''job''. Try out what is best for you by testing either analog and optical outs but in both cases make sure that you use good cables.

though you have more options than only 16v caps since only -5v/+5v go thru the stock 2200uf 16v caps

you can use 10v and certainly 6.3v caps

i had 2 x 2200uf 6.3v blackgate nx and hifi sounded like never before

also look for the nichicon gold audio caps which are supposed to be their best

I have one of these cards and absolutely love it. Very nice cards for hifi audio and the opamp upgrade does make a big difference. I upgraded mine to the LM4562NA chips with terrific results. Unfortunately my time is done with the card and I'm selling it shortly. To those who have it, enjoy it!

For those who still use this card: There is a new Vista/Win7 Driver released for both
32Bit and 64 Bit version of those operating systems. They are stable and sounding
excellent. In fact the Stereosound was never better than with this drivers.
I personaly use the Prodigy Hifi with Sennheiser HD595 headphones now under
Win7 64Bit and im enthused.

Link to the new V1.07 drivers:
