Very good post.
I have been looking at these systems on Ebay for the past couple of days and googled Carputer + Ebay and your post came up. Thanks for all of the info. I may go forward with this purchase now myself.

I also took a look at the forum that you mentioned, I may sign later, I see tht you currently only have 3 registered members, but I'm sure that will grow.

Thanks once again, and I may contact you with more questions at a later point and time.

Thats not it. . . .The laptop drive end of it is right. . . but the other end of that one is for a standard ide ribbon cable .... mine has the muilt bay plug on a pci riser card. . .
i think i may have found one. . . but now the more I think of it. . . I dont really need an optical drive all that bad. . . . .just for installing software and i can hook a usb one up for that... . . I have found from owning this carputer for a few weeks that I do most of my data transfer through my usb thumb drive. .

anyway. . . . thanks for looking

mine is a bit more costly. i won at $680. it has M10000 (256MB/60GB 2.5" Seagate)+Liliput 7" touchscreen, dc-dc psu. it comes with a control box - where i hook up the liliput vga port and 12V (from box also). i am a fool when work on cables all over the car. so its use of RJ-45 cables does help me a bit.

I just ordered the system & gps receiver (no monitor) for $300.

sent the money via paypal, and then got a notification from ebay in my email today:

Thank you for your bid on the following listing:

Item number: 260071444802
Title: Car Computer PC with GPS receiver and software

Unfortunately, eBay has removed this listing. All bids or offers on this listing have been canceled. Because the listing was ended, you no longer have any obligation to purchase this item. If the seller chooses to relist the item, you're welcome to bid on it again.

Listings are removed for different reasons. For example:
- The way the item was listed may violate eBay policy.
- The removal may be part of a separate action taken by eBay that is unrelated to the listing itself.

We hope you understand that, due to privacy concerns, we're unable to discuss the details of why this listing was ended. However, please note that the removal of this listing should not suggest that this seller's standing in the eBay Community has been called into question.

So I really hope I don't get screwed here. We'll see, I'll update this thread.

I emailed the company directly, so hopefully I get a response tomarrow.

Ya know, this exact same thing happened to me on a completely unrelated item last week. ebay decides to cancel the auction AFTER it has ended and i have already sent payment. Took me almost a week of *****ing at the seller to give me my money back after he refused the first two time i asked nicely. Only after telling him i would contact his local law enforcement to report the theft of money did i finally get my refund.

I dunno whats going on at eBay these days, but ive been hearing a lot of people getting stuck in this situation.

You will have to file a claim with Paypal.

It's what I had to do for some DVD box sets I attempted to buy over Christmas. Generally, they're good about it. Though I AM disputing one charge currently.

Is this the same package you bought off ebay?

GAL-250P

http://galleongps.com/product_details.php?id=7

I'm looking to add something (Navigtion mostly) to my Nissan Armada SUV. I was about to order the Clarion NICE system, but then stumbled upon this here today.

One BIG question I have is how easily can I add SIRIUS satllite radio to a carputer setup (specifically the GAL-250P carputer). Is this even possible?

The Clarion offers a NAVSIR (Sirius) option that connects easily to the NICE system. That is why I am still leaning towards the Clarion system right now...but if I can add Sirius on my carputer, I think that I would probably change my mind and go that route.

2 additional questions that I just thought of:

1) I know you can hear the voice/comp[uter sound via the wireless FM transmitter - can you also use an AUX connection for this?

2) Does the power inverter come with this system (GAL-250P)?

Many thanks for any and all help!

Mike
