Silabs Radio Integration into Roadrunner
OK, just got this through the post and think its about time we all got together and got it put into roadrunner as from what I've read its a half decent radio and its much better than the dlink & radioshark..
I havent downloaded any sources but it cant be that hard to put it into road runner, all the background work guino has done and I presume its just a case of joining stuff together..
If you want to help .. have some source already in vb (RRMOBILE) that you want to help me put into rr then please post here..

here u go m8.. I'm sure they will sell out fast..
U know me m8, I have tried every bloody radio going.. and I am very impressed with this.. theres already a sdk around and some vb code that rrmobile has played with.. so it can defo be integrated in to RR.. it doesnt use a silly line in / mic in.. It doesnt use any drivers just plug and play..

ok here is the source for the radio control application they provide. Its in c++... I havent got a clue where to start with c++ . have also tried to load it into vs2005 but it errors on convert..
source is at
www.freedrive.co.uk/silabs.zip
I think all you would need to do is make it hidden and then make it support roadrunner sdk commands so rr can control and talk to it.. cant be that hard

all you need to do is solder a car socket or whatever you want to call it in place of the little wire fly lead.. on splitting the case (just pulls apart) unsolder the wire aerial and solder the center of the car aerial in its place, right next to this is a bigger hole, solder the ground of the car aerial to this.. then snip the plastic bits that went through this hole from each side of the casing and zip tie it all together.. jobs done.. I've just been out again for a lttle drive.. just so I can listen to the radio.. how sad is that.. lol but ts been soooo long since Ive had a proper radio in the car of this quality.. it also has ts own volume slider and mute, so its easy to set the volume of it to tie into your system.

Someone made a USBRadio.DLL which seems fairly simple to integrate with RR. Shouldn't take much at all, the only problem is I don't have how to test it myself.

Hi m8.. just been looking about, and it seems someones already had a go at this.. attached is the dll and also a modradio from rr, but it was done before the radioshark integration so things just need to be moved about a bit. I will have a go myslef later, but since I'm already using your beta with FU and the available source is out of date.. blar blar.. :-) u know what I mean.. lol
here are the files .. if you add the few lines of code and I will be able to test it.. I will still send u one.. as to be honest its the best thing I've tried :-)

Nice work everyone, I've actually ordered one finally and it should be here tomorrow. As for the antena situation what would i do if i want to hook it up straight to the antena on my rear window? I don't want to drag a cable to the front of the car.

Just bought two of them.
Guino, why not have the code in an extension plugin? It's easier to maintain and will not make the RR code more complex and best of all only the people actually using it will load the code. I would be more than willing to give it a shot. Have been working on a HQCT plugin myself (with Traffic Announcement, NEWS, AF and EON functions) but I'm not to happy with the performance of the HQCT after building the module in my car.

Actually, since there's an external DLL it should only take a few lines into the radio module, it's just another case on the already existing code and it would not load or execute anything extra for who doesn't use it, so it's not like it would make any difference.
