M-Audio with ASIO volume control

Hi all,

I'm a bit new to this but I've been bangin around on these forums and I have learned alot. I love Road Runner and it's capabilities and I've tried a few other front-ends for my upcoming carputer project but after lots of time and plenty of I only have about one question that I can't seem to find an answer for.....well that I remember anyway:

How the heck can I control my Delta Control Panel (M-Audio 24/96 ASIO) volume with Road Runner? The only way the M-Audio ASIO drivers will let me use RR's volume is to send the output through Winamp's "out_wave.dll" and I want to use the ASIO plugin being the sound-quality oriented guy I am.

I've heard of some people interfacing Girder with the Delta Control Panel which does work as long as the panel's window is open, but how do I get Girder to communicate with Road Runner so I can use RR's volume control to turn up the volume on the M-Audio control panel? Or even better yet, Is there an easier way?

Isn't there a ASIO plugin for winamp? I'm pretty sure there is. Try searching for it through the winamp forums.

Sorry for responding so late, been very busy at work lately. I can use the ASIO plug for Winamp and was hoping to continue to use it but I have no volume control with it. The only output plug that has volume control using ASIO drivers is the wave out plugin that comes with Winamp and that kind of defeats the purpose of using ASIO drivers in the first place. I'd like to bypass the Windows mixer all together.

I've tried lots of configurations but came to the conclusion that if i want volume control it has to be through the M-Audio Delta control panel unless I want to involve Windows volume control. Those with ASIO cards know what I mean. I wonder if there is a way to map the RR volume control to the Delta control panel somehow.

I sure there is, why don't you ask guino if he can help. If he doesn't know, there must be someone that can help you do it.

I know you can map it the winamp volume control instead of the windows kmixer, but I agree, it would be nice to be able to map the volume control to either the soundcards control panel or other software. If you map it to winamp it only works for winamp and not video. I would love to be able to find out how to map the volume to a program called "Console"

Thanks for the input. Maybe this is a question for the RR creater himself like you said meddler. I read other posts about this in the past and noone seems to have found a logical way to do it. After tinkering around for a while I think I might just keep things simple and use the M-Audio driver through the "waveOUT output v2.1" plugin in Winamp and save myself the headache. There's just so many other things to concentrate on anyway.

Sorry, I myself don't have a clue of the nature of those audio cards. If there's a "control application" for it, I'd suggest trying to embed it on it's own screen as described in the FAQs.. you can control certain actions of Girder through RR by executing a control application provided by girder, and using of the RUN command to launch it from buttons on the skin.. that sounds like an awefull lot of work, but it should be possible.. you'd have to look through girder documentation to see how.. cause honestly I haven't looked at it myself.. Sorry, it's just hard to provide support for very specific things like this.. but at least we're willing to try.. had you gotten something easy/off the shelf, you'd basically get the "no can do attitude".
