Switching between RR and copilot

I'm working on a new setup that uses RR for media player and ALK Copilot for GPS. I've configrued both to leave enough space for a task switcher called ObjectDock. ObjectDock has a nice feature where a shortcut will launch one instance of a program and switch back to it on subsequent clicks. This works like a charm with Copilot, every click will bring the guidance window to the foreground. But RR doesn't seem to want to budge! Click the shortcut 1st time works and launches RR. But once other apps are in front, RR won't come to the foreground. It is not minimized, just in the background. If I click the RR taskbar icon, RR will switch to the foreground just fine.

I see my options so far:
1) maybe it's a small issue in RR that I (end user) can fix.
2) find another utility that will call the RR window properly.
3) drop the shortcuts and use the task bar icons to switch.

Anyone know why RR doesn't come to the foreground?

I think you have found some similar hitch to the one I had when trialling TomTom on the PPC emulator.

I have to make GPS load on startup, completely independant from RR.
Then have RR call up an empty batch file instead of giving RR your full GPS path, this then triggers RR to look for the window with the right name to embed.
If you don't use the blank batch file, it will try and load a new GPS instance everytime you try to switch back to it.

It might work, it might not.

Does ALK CoPilot come with EU maps? I bought a second hand copy a few years ago and it only had US maps

It would be nice to try it out.

Using a empty batch file sounds like an interesting idea. Although I was not planning to use RR's embedded feature for GPS, I might see what this does with copilot.

I think ALK should have a EU version of Copilot. The one I bought came with US/Canada maps, but try to find the ALK website in europe that should carry an EU version.

So my issue is really switching back to RR after copilot is in the foreground. I might try writing a small program that will call the RR window to the foreground. But I need to find the code to switch windows first.

Just let it embed into RR and it solves the problem... If it will embed that is

The empty batch file is just so RR has a command to run, which I believe then makes it look for a matching window name to embed. As it is already open and running it will grab the Copilot window and embed it. Once embedded your problem should disappear.

Given some more info, I could write a very quick app the mimics the the your using already, with the RR prob fixed...

such as how many progs R U switching between, 3?

could also be a button located on the screen somewhere instead of clicking the icon, maybe even allow to change the button loc depending on what app is in focus?

I've found this very neat command line utility that might do what I need:

I simply make a shortcut to it with an argument for th window name and it will bring that window to the foreground. Plus it will also launch an application if the window name is not found. This seems like a very useful util.

Here is my sm app.

features:
*button overlay w/ transparentcy setting
*diff button loc per app
*runs prog if not running
*easy setup

Put in a folder and Run. Upon first run will bring up a setup window to set up 1- 5 apps.
By default, App1 will start upon starting app

Use tray menu to enter setup again or exit app

I was looking on their site. Yes Co-Pilot 10 is available for about $ 150. To this must be added either $ 99 for the UK map or another $150 for Europe.
Makes it somewhat expensive me-thinks

i know this is an older thread but has anyone successfully been able to integrate roadrunner and copilot. I have the truck version and would like to integrate it. If rr does not work, is there another one to recommend?

I use Copilot with my skin - thats why the split top and the bottom bar

chuck, i clicked on your skin and it looks great but i don't see copilot anywhere in your screenshots or how it is integrated, can you expand on that?
