I have a few questions regarding HORM and RoadRunners support for it:

I'm running my system on an EWF protected partition with HORM enabled, which works fine. RoadRunner and WinAMP are installed on an unprotected partition.

So I guess I did everything right. As far as I understand RoadRunner's support for HORM, I once create a hibernate file and even if I cut the power of the PC without hibernating again/shutting down, RoadRunner should load the last used playlist and resume the last song. Am I right there ?
Well, it doesn't work for me. It always shows the playlist I used before hibernating (for creating the horm hibernate file). So it seems to me that RoadRunner didn't notice that I resumed from a hibernate file (PLEASE NOTE: I cut the power without shutting down/hibernating again).

Question 1: From the technical point of view: How is RoadRunner supposed to notice, that it has to reload the playlist and resume the last played song ? Just for my understanding.

I'm using a selfmade skin. When I add the line

to the exectbl.ini of the skin it would reload the winamp playlist. Which would be the last list I used. So this workaround would work.
Question 2: But how do I tell RoadRunner to resume the last played song ?

I'd rather to not use these workarounds. So what's wrong on my configuration that RoadRunner doesn't reload the playlist and resumes the last played song ?

The only thing that I would add is what setting do you have for the resume setting in the config? As it should also follow that setting too.

I'm not hibernating but simply cutting the power. That's the whole sense with HORM. Or do you mean when creating the HORM hibernate file ?

using horm doesn't mean you should just cut power to the system -- SPECIALLY when you have non-protected volumes. Instead of hibernating, you should SHUT DOWN the computer properly -- this will ensure RR/Winamp save the resume points properly and that the OS will save any remaining data before shutting off the computer. Once you start up, your hibernate point will be restored and the unprotected volume will be read for the last restore point. HORM is not a "shut me off anytime" license -- it's a simple shortcut for the boot process... however, if you only have protected volumes in your machine than it pretty much allows you to shut the system off at anytime -- even though I'm pretty sure that is still NOT recommend for the hardware's sake.

Well, it's not recommended for harddisks, but I don't see any problems when you use solid state drives.

I see the sense in EWF and HORM for embedded systems, where you don't want the system to change in any way.

What I forgot to mention in this thread is that I'm running a stripped down WindowsXP version. I'm going to reinstall the system and strip it down myself when I have some spare time. But for testing purposes I'll write my own program which watches the computers time to recognize when the system resumes. I know that you included something similiar in a recent version, but it doesn't work for me. I didn't try the newest RR-version though. Did you change/fix the code/behavior in the newest release ?

I am not sure if switch the power off is a problem for the harddrive, but:

1 - My CarPC has been working with no faults for 6 months.
2 - Some time ago (not so much) you have to manualy switch off your computer.
3 - Desktop´s harddrives are not designed for automotive enviroments

Anyway, i can not make it work with a normal power off, nor just switching off.
