Set RR resolution on resume from hibernation?

Hi,

I have an Asus TabletPC R2H which has a native resolution of 800x480. Through the Intel driver, I can set the resolution up to 1024x800, but if I put the computer in hibernation, when it comes out of hibernation, it always defaults to 800x480.

I set the resolution through RR, and it seems to work when starting up RR, but again through hibernation, it stops and stuck with the 800x480. Is there a way to run the same resolution command in RR when coming out of hibernation? Does RR realize it's waking up from hibernation?

Thanks.

This is a problem with the R2H, your lucky its just resetting the res as its well known for expanding the desktop as in you have to move around to get the full screen. Try looking for better drivers although I failed a few months ago on that one as it all comes down to the really bad Asus and Intel drivers that were supplied.

My company was looking to buy 40 UMPC's so I got a Samsung Q1 and an R2H to test. For some reason the Q1 was far better even although they are pretty much the same kit internally.

This is something I can't figure it out, the resolution will go expanded desktop if I change the resolution via Windows Display Settings. If I hit the Asus hotkey (the one on the left hand side of the hard buttons), if I click on the resolution higher than 800x480, it will squeeze and fit the entire screen (not expanded desktop).

When I set the resolution in RR, I was surprised it didn't go expanded desktop. So far I have all Asus latest drivers, maybe I'll ghost the Tablet and try Intel version of the display driver.

It would be nicer if I can run 800x600 for iGuidance, the map area is much nicer.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes I battled with the R2H for quite a few weeks. It took me a couple of days just to get it to run stable never mind anything else. I dont understand how a company can put something like that on the market as to be honest it wasnt fit for the purpose. I did try to get the free upgrade to Vista but Asus didn't honour that either. By the way I found a clean install with XP worked wonders but it still wasn't right.

Few things that bug me with the Asus:

a) Wireless takes forever to lock in with an access point
b) display issue with the resolution
c) kinda slow, but I knew this from the beginning when I bought it so can't blame it now

I did get the Vista upgrade although I was supposed to send in a proof of purchase but I was way past the date. Still got the disc so I was actually surprised.

I was told the wireless works much better with Vista but I've tried Vista on my work laptop and I didn't like it. So I don't think I'll be putting it on the Asus.

I was hoping nLite would work with TabletPC Edition of Windows but it didn't! But I did sort of clean install of Windows and installed only absolute necessary. I think I've tweaked it to its limit for now.

I'm trying out a 32GB SSD with the Asus, it's better for program response, but it takes longer to hibernate.

Aside from the wireless and video problems, I have to say the Tablet works as expected and I don't think I can set up a carPC easier than this. I'm leasing the car right now so I'm trying to minimize modding and running wires if not necessary.

Wonder if the newer R2Hv is any better, at least it uses Intel WiFi instead of an old G Asus chipset.

Thanks.

Making some good progress, updated the Intel display driver directly from Intel, dated Jan 07 instead of Jun 06 from Asus. Now the screen will fit nicely even when set to 1024x600 through display properties in Windows. It used to set a virtual desktop so I have to pan around.

The only problem is, if I hibernate the computer, after it comes out of hibernation, it stays in 800x480. Are there any utilities out there that can change the resolution on the fly (shortcuts)? I think there's an utility somewhere here in this board to execute certain programs after coming out of hibernation or standby?

Thanks.
