Idea for RR, IGuidance, and freefone...

I had an idea that I wanted to share with all the software savy people.

Since I'm getting a bluetooth phone to link up with freefone embedded in RR, I was thinking what else would be useful for us.

and I thought a kick *** thing would be to take a "snapshot" of a gps map that you choose from Iguidance, and send it to your phone. If you have a large enough LCD, it woudl be very useful in case you needed a map for when you walk away from your car.

does Iguidance already have a "snapshot" or send picture feature? and if so, could we do it in a few easy steps without using a keyboard? (like use our touchscreen or onscreen keyboard)

I think that would be very useful. sending Iguidance images over bluetooth to your large lcd phone.

this would require you to zoom into the maximum zoom to be of any use with iguidance. iG's maps are not very detailed. It would not require freefone at all because freefone only uses bluetooth serial port access. In fact freefone would have to be disconnected on most phones because of the 1 bluetooth connection limitation.

From there u'd need a way to make ur computer autoconnect to the file transfer protocol in your bluetooth stack. Iguidance does not screen capture so you'd have to write an autoit script to take a picture of a predefined spot on your screen (this would change depending on window title/ skin/ etc) then have the autoitscript send the image to a recongizable spot on your phone. Because different phones have different spots for that kinda storage u'd have to have a way of customizing it amongst alot of different phone models.

In summary... great idea but it would take quite a bit of input for alot of different sources to make work and to make usuable to the masses.

Just use your camera phone, and take a picture of the screen

not a bad idea.

the 3.2 megapixel sony erickson should be good enough to take a photo of the screen.
