So I'm guessing I should go with the 11-02-07 version for now as the latest?

If that was the case...you'd be waiting forever for all the bugs to be worked out every version has some kind of bug(s), it just that some are really small ones and once and awhile when a big feature gets added it can create much larger ones. It really comes down to what your running and what your trying to do with rr and going on that, then decide if an update will fix your previous problems or add to them.
Pick your battles wisely...

I know most of you probably don't use this version anymore but the later version (12-06-07). Since the source code of the later version isn't available and I haven't try the later version yet. I have a question for you guys if you guys run into this problem with either version.
When you have a video play with built-in video player not MPC. Open the video browser, high light the video you want to play, click "SELECT" command, what happen? Does the new video play or it just open in winamp and the current video keep playing?
That is the exact problem I have with video player. I use built-in and I can't select a different video to play if I use the video browser skin. The only way to change the video is to use the "NEXT" and "PREVIOUS" command to jump. I found that in the code the condition to make the "SELECT" command works had changed and I'm not sure why it change (probably for a reason.)
Because the code I have in hand already modify by me that could result in the problem above. So I just want to double check with you guys if the problem is the result of my modification (I can put that back to make it work) or that from the main code release by guino so that guino can change/fix (if needed) for later release.
thank guys.

While a video is playing, i can go back to the browser, highlight a different video and play it (the button command is "select") every time. This is with the 12/6 RR. and built-in video.
EDIT: I had a problem on time with winamp wanting to play the videos but it went away when i disassociated the .video extensions from winamp.

Thanks for mentioning ! Wanted to upgrade my CarPC to the newest RR version, but I don't want to miss the GPS indicator. Any ETA for the newest RR ?
(Also, is there a changelog for the 12-06-version ?)

I just want to say that I wish people would integrate the WinAmp video player. In my mind, audio and video should not be separate sources with separate playlists. It should just be local-media so that music and music-videos can be mixed in the same playlist. I don't watch movies/tv in my car.
I saw this done in one skin (using WinAmp to play video and audio), but no one else does it that way. Basically everything is in one playlist, and then the video button just shows/hides WinAmps video screen (just like the vis button shows/hides MildDrop). If music is playing rather than a video, the video screen is just black.
I really want all my Media in one place with the following views: Playlist, Art, Vis, Video, Browse, Cover-Flow, Search, mini-GPS-map.

At some point in time, My Media plugin will incorporate both music and video in the db. Then you could more easily accomplish this...

You can do this just by adding extensions (.avi, .mpg, .wmv, etc) to the Audio File Types. Works fine. You can browse your video dirs using the music browser and play them in Winamp with no trouble. A still shot of the music-video even appears where album-art usually is. To watch video, you simply press a button that loads a .skin with the WinAmp video screen embedded.
I just wish more skinners had the show-video button and .skin to do this instead of having a separate video player.

I've been doing this for years with RoadRunner because I've modified the skins I use to incorporate it. To complain to the skinners, or Guino for that matter, to incorporate it (especially with its limitations and liabilities) is not fair. I accept both so I made the mod. Its not something that has been embraced by the community because of the above (sorta like the record button) , but as an individual - do what makes you happy!

Agreed... I've been modifying skins too. I just don't understand why this method is not embraced by the community. What are the liabilities? How are they different than using MPC? You could still make the show-video button not work when the car is moving if you wish. No skins really do that by default with MPC as the video player anyway though.

JohnWPB has incorporated MotionLock plug-in as well as others (keeps video/DVD from playing if GPS > X mph). The major liability in laymans terms is if I write a program that You use to break the law and you injure someone because of it - I could be sued!
Another as related to the record button is if I write something and distribute it, ala Napster, and the RIAA decides to be an ***, they can get an injunction on the distribution or use of everything and everyone associated with it, or worse yet sue everyone who has any part of it: developer, modifier, user, etc. And I would hate to see RoadRunner die the same way as Napster, XtremePCR or the infamous XMPCR.
There are many other liability issues associated with screens "forward of the driver's back" (paraphrased from the Illinois statutes) that almost every state now has in force. I've been stopped twice and both times had to pull up my copy of the statute on my CarPC and instruct the law enforcement officer on the letter of the law. Not everybody with a CarPC is knowingly willing to acknowledge these issues so its best for the safety and longevity of the community to steer clear of them.
