800x480 RR resolution -- can it work ?

Im sorry for asking a load of questions here as i seem to be more of a hinderance than a help to the community at the moment, but once again i have a problem and you guys are the only ones that can help.

I have RR installed in the car PC , all works great (after much help from a few brilliant people here) and decided to get the screen built into the dash.
I have limited space and so had to go for a lilliput 7'' touchscreen.

I discovered that the max resolution on the screen was 800x480 AFTER i bought it.
Now , the screen works when i set it to this , but Roadrunner still has an 800x600 resolution on it and i can only see part of it.

My question is , can i set the resolution to 800x400 for RR , or is there a custom skin for the 800x400 screens, and failing that, is it possible to make my own skin that will fit a screen with that limited resolution ??
Ohh yeah i have a Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics controller.

Thanks again in advance for any input.

I use a program called powerstrip to set my resolution to 800x480. Not sure if it will work on an intel graphics controller. Give it a search.

in every skin should be an GENERAL.INI file

OriginalWidth=800
OriginalHeight=600
ShowWidth=800
ShowHeight=600
XPosition=0
YPosition=0

because your screen shows 800x480 you must change the value from SHOWHEIGHT= to
480. thats all.

ok I tried the powerstrip option and it did nothing for me - also tried the changes to the general.ini file and its a bit better but im missing stuff still.

I changed the screen res to 640x480 so at least its loading ok now , just RR still isnt displaying the full page ... dont think this screen likes RR

for rr its not important whats behind him.

important is that you give the solution you want in the general.ini AND in the rr.ini of your road runner folder.
with the roadrunner config its possible to change the values from the rr.ini.
take the roadrunner config from zx3 and look whats inside.

under GENERAL SETTINGS page2 you find in bottom position .... RoadRunner at this resolution......
try with the values inside for best result to your screen.

i have it on DEFAULT and change it in the general.ini

I think i have started to figure out that RR isnt the issue myself - i need to get my graphics controller to display in 800x480 mode before i can move forward , and this looks to be a bit of an issue at present.
Hope i can figure out how to do this some time soon cause its wrecking my head at the moment.Thanks for the input to date guys - if anyone else has any ideas keep them coming.

I have a Lilliput 7" Touch Screen XGA TFT Car PC Monitor ( EBY701 ) and the native screen size on it is 800x480 - its pretty much the only res it runs properly but it fits into my surround perfectly.

I was in this same boat. Although i was able to set both settings to 800x480 in my .ini and it all looks fine now, although my windows behind still is a lil hard to use.

I tried setting it to 800x480 and i cant see a lot of the screen still - my windows behind is set to 640x480 and it displays fine, so i decided to try to set RR to 640x480 but same thing - i can only see as far as the volume buttons and dont have any minimise or exit options.

Im going to try one more thing when i finish work and ill let u know what happens.

I have the same monitor and the native is 800x600. The manual says 800x480 but it's wrong. If you set that resolution you'll be missing the bottom and top parts of the screen.

I tried setting it to 800x600 and the screen refused to turn on - it works once i reduce it below 800x600 but not at or above that.

I set mine to 800x480 and it was all short and screwy but then I hit the left arrow button and it re-adjusted and it's fine now. Really weird. It won't do that in any other other modes, now I don't think I can get it back to 800x600. I can do 1024x768 though, but its not proportioned quite right.

I may be way off base here since I have only owned a Xenarc. With the Xenarc, the natice resolution is also 800X480. I tried setting a bunch of resolutions on Windows...all had problems. This was until I had it set to 800X600 and tried changing the refresh rate. If it's set at 75Hz, the display works perfectly. Anything else and parts of the display get cut off.
