I used to have an Audigy 2NX but it wouldn't upmix my stereo mp3 to its 5.1 outputs so I traded it for an older Extigy which does that nicely. However, I also found that the Extigy (USB) loses its subwoofer settings and the linein mute state after resume. The checkboxes in its control program are correct but I have to uncheck/recheck them to get them to work. After looking for the "correct" way to fix the problem without any luck, I just wrote an Auto-It script that fires upon the RR onresume feature. The script brings up the sound control panel, does all the clicking, and then re-minimizes the panel. FWIW, here's the script if you want to tweak it for your sound card:
Code:
If Not WinExists("Creative Audio Mixer") Then ;start the Extigy mixer after a hibernate/resume operation $x = Run("C:\Program Files\Creative\SBExtigy\USB Mixer\USBMix.exe","C:\Program Files\Creative\SBExtigy\USB Mixer") WinWaitActive("Creative Audio Mixer") EndIf WinActivate("Creative Audio Mixer") WinMove("Creative Audio Mixer", "",0,340) ;move dialog to a known location for subsequent mouse clicks Sleep(100) WinActivate("Creative Audio Mixer") MouseClick("left",50,545) ;click the options button Sleep(100) WinActivate("Creative Audio Mixer") MouseClick("left",50,515) ;click playback options Sleep(100) WinActivate("Creative Audio Mixer") ControlCommand("Playback Properties","","Button5","uncheck") ;uncheck/check the bass redirection control Sleep(500) WinActivate("Creative Audio Mixer") ControlCommand("Playback Properties","","Button5","check") ;this restores bass redirection after a hibernate/resume Sleep(500) WinActivate("Creative Audio Mixer") ControlClick("Playback Properties","","Button1","left") ;close the playback properties window Sleep(100) WinActivate("Creative Audio Mixer") MouseClick("left",330,498) ;click linein mute Sleep(1000) WinActivate("Creative Audio Mixer") MouseClick("left",330,498) ;click linein mute again Sleep(500) WinSetState("Creative Audio Mixer","",@SW_MINIMIZE) ; re-hide the mixer

I'm sure an AutoIt guru could tweak this a bit, but it works for me!

I have the Audigy NX card. It is well-known to have this issue, unfortunately. Someone has found a remedy, but it requires losing SP2 altogether, and reverting to SP1. Apparently, it's SP2's USB handling that causes the issue. If you go back to XP SP1, the Audigy card will hibernate and resume properly.

The only thing you can do if you're on SP2 is make sure that you close whatever app is using the soundcard, before you hibernate. So if you're using RR/Winamp, you have to close it before you hibernate. Then, when you resume from hibernate, you wait about 10 seconds, and the Audigy will re-initialize itself. Then you can restart RR. It's a pain in the a**, but it's better than having to reboot the pc.

I'm using XP SP2 & RR. If the PC hibernates & the power to the Audigy 2NX remains ON, it recovers properly. If power to the Audigy is removed during or after hibernate, the PC sound driver won't load correctly after recovery from Hibernation.

Did some follow ups with Creative Tech Support & they insists that it should work well with Hibernate mode. Guessed I'm ****ed off after all the trials & errors.

Now in the lookout for some decent SQ USB soundcard that support RR in Hibernate. Any recommendations?
