Sound Card problems - what does usbsound=true do?

I've just upgraded from on-board sound to SoundBlaster Audigy NX2 USB.
I'm having problems with hibernate+resume, and searching the forums came accross a note about adding usbsound=true to rr.ini, what does this actually do?

Upon coming out of hib, it resets the usb card and wait till its ready before RR continues.

Thanks.
I've had nothing but problems since i got my Audigy sound card, would like to get them all ironed out.
I've tired : usbsound=true in rr.ini
And also: in ExecTBL.INI
"ONSUSPEND","CLOSEWINAMP"
"ONRESUME","STARTWINAMP"

My current problem, is coming out of hibernation roadrunner starts playing ok, but i cant control volume or mute. The button has the red light so it looks like its muting, but the windows volume control shows that roadrunner is not having any affect on it.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance

you should use usbsound=true, but if windows is not notifying RR properly of its resume procedures, it won't work. Also you absolutely MUST disable ANY OTHER audio card for this feature to work.

I disabled my on-board sound, so there is only the one USB sound card.
Still have this problem to sort out...
When coming out of hibernation roadrunner starts playing ok, but i cant control volume or mute. The button has the red light so it looks like its muting, but the windows volume control shows that roadrunner is not having any affect on it. I need to close roadrunner and reopen it to fix it

Then it seems like the driver for your sound card is not providing valid mixer controls immediately after starting up (though it does report its existance).. I'd search for updated drivers for your sound card.. then try again.. if it doesn't work, I'm really out of ideas..
