Someone please help - RR not saving song on exit

I've been having this problem for almost a year. I figured something was wrong with my system but I did a full XP reinstall and reinstalled the latest rr (12/13) along with winamp 5.13. Note that when I first had the carpc it did work properly.

The problem: RR will more often than not lost the songs in the playlist on exit. For example, I start with a blank playlist, browse to an album and add all the songs. I now have an "on-the-go" playlist. Everything's going well but when I exit road runner (usually by standby but even just exiting normally) and resume, either
1. the playlist is empty
2. the playlist is still there but instead of resuming playing music where it was, music is stopped and the song selected is one that was playing a few songs before I exited
3. it works as it should (very, very rarely)

Is there anyone that might know what's going on or is there anything I can put in exectbl to force rr to save the current location on exit/standby and force it to reload the saved position on reload? I primarily use standby for 2 hours and then a hard off.

Anyone out there know what's going on? This is like the last hurdle to overcome having a great, fully functioning system and I promise not to mess with it any further if I get this working... haha.

TIA!

Chris

It may be caused by a com port not closing correctly, stopping RR from saving the resume.ini file (and any other changes). Try unplugging any usb devices that you can, or anything else using a com port and see if things work. If it works, then try isolating which one is causing the problem and check drivers. I was having a similar problem caused by a serial to usb adapter.

Is there a way to actually diagnose the problem rather than just unplugging a bunch of stuff and hoping that it can be isolated?

Did you mess with the Hibernate aware Setting in RR.ini? Not sure if this applies, but putting hibernateaware=false in my ini solved a similar problem for me.

I didn't change it from the default hibernateaware setting. I will try both suggestions a little later today and let you know.

Would the hibernateaware setting and the suggestion regarding USB devices/com ports affect just exiting roadrunner and not even going into standby? Because it loses the playlist even when just exiting and reloading the skin

ok, just tested both suggestions and unfortunately neither one fixed the issue. I changed hibernateaware to false and also tried running with nothing USB except the mouse. Still won't save my current playlist on exit.

I dont know what the values in resume.ini correlate to but for reference here's what it currently is:
-1
-1
false
false
path of skin here
0
false
false
false
false

That mean anything to anyone? I have resume music set to always in rr.ini.

You probably should post your entire rr.ini file.

Try this.
Run RR and play whatever you want for a minute or 2.
Close RR and let it shut down completely.
Restart RR and let see if the music resume where it left off.
If it does, there is a problem somewhere with your standby/hibernate setting.

resume.ini line descriptions:
-1 (if audio is playing at time of exiting, this is the list position that is currently playing)
-1 (current track position)
False (repeat T/F)
False (Shuffle T/F)
path of skin here (current skin path)
0 (SpeedAttBaseVolume)
False (VideoShuffle)
False (?)
False (?)
False (?)

The first line tells me that WA was/is stopped, values are -1=stopped, 4=playing or paused
Second line is the song position, and if WA is paused when exiting there is a "-" infront of the position..
Don't know why your line 5 doesn't have the currently used skin path??

thanks for the replies guys. Matrix - I have done that, let rr play and the simply exit. Same problem. I'll try letting it run a little longer though and try again.

Bluezx3- that resume.ini was taken right after hitting exit from rr and going right to the file. Music was playing and thats what the ini showed. The ini was located in the rr folder. The skin path shows the proper skin path. I just wrote that line since I'm on my phone and didnt wanna write the whole path out. So since winamp and rr were playing when I exited it seems either rr isn't writing to resume.ini or isn't writing the correct info.

I have never had a prob with this prob desc. But that is why your having probs, as rr is stating that on exit that your play status is stopped, even though you say that its playing.

hmm. I wonder why. Maybe I'll do a debug log and post here to see if that reveals anything.
