GPSSPD Not Working Correctly

Hey guys, I have been trying to use the GPSSPD feature in RR to display my speed, but it is really erratic. I am using a GPS port splitter (GPS Gate) to share the GPS between Map Monkey (which works perfectly, and shows the correct speed) and RR.

Any ideas? Cheers

Might be how you setup the ports: Both RR and the Nav program need to be assigned a VIRTUAL port; the port splitter should split the REAL port from the GPS receiver.

Don't worry, I know how the splitter works

I know the splitter is working, I don't have any trouble with Map Monkey using the virtual port, and if I hook up a GPS monitoring program to the other port (the one I use for RR) it works fine.

I've read you can take the speed value straight out of MM to use in RR, what is the command. I've read it's something like "MM;CurrentSpeed".

Could you go into a little more detail?

Is it not working at all, is it displaying the wrong speed, etc

I've notice that iGuidance's speed that it displays isn't always accurate. And I think that there is a delay between the reading times that may make your speed look erratic.

I setup the standard black RR skin to show the speed instead of the inside/outside temps, and occasionally seemed to work, but not for very long before the numbers started making no sense. According to RR I've stopped dead in the middle of the motorway several times :P Sometimes the speed will just go up and down with no relation to the speeds I'm travelling.

MapMonkey always shows the correct speed. It is always bang on with my cars speedo.

The command to pull the speed from MapMonkey is MM;CurrentSpeed.

This thread has a MM skin for default BMV2 skin: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/map-...r-skin-mm.html

I would think that would fix the problem with the RR Speed command.

Well this is what it looked like this morning. Bit hard to see in the sun, but if you look carefully it says I'm doing 47kph

I hope not, if I am I will hit that tree!

I've got it working now using the MM;CurrentSpeed command, just had to enable plugin support in MM. How do I add kph or km/h or similar after the speed, all it shows is the number?

You should be able to add it as static text, just be careful of the layout or you'll cut off the speed. But take a look at that thread I linked, the skin that's in there I believe covers that.

Nice looking install on your screen by the way. Looks very OEM.
