HD Radio
After receiving the HD kabel from Mitchell I want to try it with my CarPC.
Before I start I have 2 questions:
Do I need to install any other software or can I just use latest RR version?
and which skin is getting the most out of the radio.

I'm a little outdated on the skins right now, but you can use the HD radio solely with RR (though I would recommend installing Mitch's application to test it first).
On another note, I thought HD radio was only for the USA... are you just going to use the device for standard Radio in Holland ?

Correct. One guy from the Dutch CarPC forum bought the radio from ebay.
He already tested als stand alone, and find it very nice.
Now I want to test it within RR to use it only as a FM radio (Holland doesnt have HD radio )
When you talk about solely, do you mean that i need to start the HD software next to RR??
Hope not because I just want to be able to control it inside RR

Thanks. I will try that.
But let me see if I get it right.
step 1:
-install Mitchell software.
step 2:
-choose HD radio inside RR config.(and if needed change com nr inside RR.ini)
step 3:
-start RR and ciontrol radio using FX's skin.
Is this correct???

Just installed my HD radio last night, and here are the steps that helped me succeed:
First I made sure i had .net 2.0 installed - .net
Make sure you have the newest version of roadrunner - installer
run "runme1st" which is located in your roadrunnerdir/HDRadio directory after you install road runner
Under RRConfig->Radio choose HD Radio and pick your Line used for Radio Audio...
under RRConfig->INI Variables add: hdradioport=X where X is the COM port your HD radio is connected to (save and exit)
And run road runner and try it out.
it should work after that. when i click on radio in my skin i hear a click coming from the tuner. that should tell you the computer is accessing it. I had a tough time getting it to work in my car computer last night. the way i solved that was a fresh clean copy of of Road Runner. (i had just updated it from a previous version). You don't need to install mitch's software program (although you can use it to test your radio out). Good luck!

Thanks xelz. Will try this my self
Mitch:
I was looking at the link you posted. There I see the HD interface.
Is it possible with this interface to use lets say the next frequentie: 100.8 Or is it a hardware issue and it just doesnt accept a even number??

UPDATE:
Okay. i took my PC from the car and iinstalled the HD radio.
When I use Mitch's software then I have sound. But in R when I toch the RADIO button , radio goes on but I dont hear nothing.
Also using an other frequentie doesnt help. Just can get to find any station.
Already tried 3 different skins (Void,FX and Carwings) and all gave me the same result

Yeah i was going through the same thing also (mentioned in my previous post). To get it working i just uninstalled RR, and reinstalled it in a new directory, reinputed all my settings (i know it's a pita) double checked that i did all the steps and got the correct port and and made sure i ran runme1st. if you hear clicking from the unit then the computer is accessing it. i would check your volume settings and see if you don't have anything muted. (or try hooking directly from radio unit to speakers and see if sound is coming out that way)
does it scan and stop at radio stations? it might just get stuck at 0 if there is no communication between computer and radio unit.

the skin you use shouldn't really matter. if it works in one skin it should work in all of em. so the problem is w/ something to do w/ RR since mitch's app works. but you probably figured that out. i'm out of ideas
