GPS clock setting car clock

The GPS has very accurate time from satellites. Very simple to decode from NMEA message. Has someone used it for setting time in PC and/or car? (specifically RR and BMW IBus)

NMEA message:
$GPRMC,132307.93,A,5921.39377,N,01758.66388,E,000.0,000.0,230408,,,A*53

RoadRunner has a function for settng your PC time/date.

As for setting the Car clock along the iBus, now that is interesting (for those that have iBus). There are plugins that can communicate with the iBus it would just be a metter of finding out the right code (if it is possible)

That's great! Thanks for IBus messages!

So I can use GPS gate to set up a new COM port with NMEA data and read it into a new GPS_Time_RR plugin. That date and time will be fished up by the IBus RR plugin that will set the car clock to the same time as GPS and RR clock.

Fun!

I would be very carefull on this... This functionality is alread in roadrunner, but Guino has found that different GPS Receivers return very different formats even though it is supposed to be in a standard format. Just search and you will see some posts where he tries to get it working correctly all the time and just gave up because of the differences between the receivers.
