mpc with rr...
ok.. after hours of observing and playing.. i noticed something that i couldn't fix..
file plays just fine with mpc outside rr by hooking a correct codec.. i can see the icon in the taskbar.. However, if i play it in rr, codec is not triggered for some reason.. it should do it automatically, but it doesn't.. How do i wire the codec program and mpc in rr again?
thanks...

Why use MPC inside RR other than to play DVD's? The internal video player will play any file (with right codec's installed).

That's what i am trying to do.. play dvds and avi and mpg files... I thoght internal video player is mpc, no? It's strange, It used to fire the codec program when mpc is played inside rr... not anymore... damn.. what changes did i make for rr to behave this way......

Do you have the file associations added in RR config? That was the problem I had originally when I couldn't get the movies to play..

Bran, the internal player is NOT MPC.
Try this: select the internal player from rrconfig and leave it alone; you should be able to play any fine provided you have the right codec.
To play DVD's you will use the same video player screen but you have to call it with the "DVD" command and then it will use MPC to play the DVD. No need to change the "internal" setting in rrconfig.
The only reason you would change to "external" is if you want to use windvd, powerdvd or even MPC but then they would need to have their own .skin (windvd.skin) file and graphics and will not use the video player at all.

tried it already... it's locking up RR... dont' get it.. it works fine outside RR.
That tells me codec is also working fine.. Maybe not with RR....
b3tts,
I am just trying to play files... no DVDs... divx, mpegs.. stuff like that...
Maybe it's time to uninstall RR and reinstall the whole thing again...

ok... it's just a few files are doing that... don't understand why codec programs are not loading when played in RR... I guess, i'll just have to play those files with MPC itself...

ok... no more head banging with mpc anymore... I am using vlc.. what an awsome player.. light, fast, no ext. codec required... Plays everything i have.. It also let you define hotkeys which can be mapped to ur buttons and it's just matter of calling sendkey.... double tapping on screen will change to full screen and all my buttons work.... awsome..

Dan, you embed it just like you embed any other application.. check faq section "how to embed an application". In VLC option, you can define your own keys how you want vlc to behave, then use sendkey to map your buttons.
