Ok, I just ran across a cool little app, and thought I would share
Its called
iAmp Remote. It allows you to control Winamp with your iPhone wireless. I just tested it here, and it is pretty slick
It took me all of 30 seconds to set it up. Install the app on the phone, download and run the Winamp Plugin installer, then enter your PC's IP address in the settings on the iPhone. Thats it!
First I created a playlist with every song in my collection. With that loaded in RR, you can then use the iPhone app to play the songs. Skip forward / back ect. The bonus is, you can then search that playlist from the phone! On the phone I type "poker face" and the results show up instantly, tap the song and it starts playing in RR! The screen in RR updates with the name of the song. This works in reverse as well, you can change the song in RR and see the song change instantly in the iPhone.
You can also control the volume, ballance and such from the phone as well.
Couple of uses:
- This little app could be handy to pass the phone to the backseat, and let someone browse through and play music.
- Operate the music remotely at a car show
- Impress everyone at your next CarPC meet
- In my case, I am using it in the car, as well as going to use it here at home with my Home Automation install. I can sit on the couch and browse through and play music over the stereo system.
One major drawback is you can not create playlists from the iPhone itself.
