Thanks again for the help, and for sticking with me on this. I will get the exact debug files.

Since I messed with it last night, I reconfigured the XM box power to be permanently on. I have discovered that if I leave the XM box powered up while the PC sleeps, it always works great, at least so far. I left it that way over night, and have cycled in and out of standby/resume about a dozen times with no problem. It works so well I'm afrraid to touch it to get the debug files! But I know I need to.

What I"m wondering now, is it possible that the PC wakes faster than the XM box? Could the PC be sending XM commands to the XM box before the XM is fully started up? This PC comes out of standby in about 5 seconds, I think. I did notice yesterday that there were several times that I got the RR error screen saying it couldn't find the XM box. Yet it is there when I go into device manager, and if I restarted RR, it would then find it, but this was not consistent. I know, we need the exact debug files. I'll get them as soon as is screws up again, so we have exactly what you need. I know, the debug will show if this is the case.

I did think about the signal strength, that's a really good thought, and I sure wish that were the problem, but I don't think it is. When it does work, it is 100%, however I have no way to read the strength, it doesn't show on my skin. I do have a permanent center of the rooftop XM antenna, on a fairly tall vehicle, and it's always been excellent. So I could have a bad signal, but the xm still update the song titles, change channels, etc? I never thought about that, I figured it was all or nothing sort of thing.

75% of the xm issues has been, the XM box is NOT powered when the PC is ON
in most cases it losses power before the PC is sleeping, and misses commands sent to it...

Ok, it worked great most of the afternoon with the XM power on permanently, but finally failed. Here is the debug file. This shows startup and everything working fine for a dozen or so standby/resume cycles. I did switch between MP3 and XM many times through this time, and it worked perfect. MUCH better than the old version of RR ever did. However, at about 4:29 PM, XM finally failed and I never got the XM audio back. I put notes in the debug file to show when this happened and what I did.

I must compliment Mitch on how much better RR works with this new code. It is a big difference. If only I can figure out what my problem is.

Also, my PC comes out of standby much quicker than I thought, about 2 seconds. However, in this debug file I just posted, the XM had continous power, it was never powered down. I put a DMM on the power line to watch it, and see if something strange was happening. I never saw anything unusual. The power for the XM box is the same as the PC, which is from the Carnetix PSU. To do this, I just reprogrammed the Carnetix dead-man to 72 hours.

scott, a quick review shows everything is working fine
the mute/unmute commands are being processed
perfectly
there is no problem in software here

i would suspect signal strength, then suspect the tuner

please do what i say....

once it fails, STOP USING RR, and USE XMID!!!!!!!

also after 4:44, and u said u got no audio, u didnt do what i said, go to mp3, then back to xm... (and that should be done after xm is running)
and u didnt do what i said too, turn off XM CACHE!!!!

i cant help you, unless you follow instructions....
this at this point we need to go to IM... im on MSN... we can debug issue live

I did do the switch from XM to MP3 after XM failed, but appeared to be working, at 4:42:48

You are correct, I didn't turn off XMCache. I'll do that. I'm trying to find XMID on your website. I couldn't find it last night, but I think I was too sleepy. I'll try to get you on IM. I've been outside trying to get it to fail again. when I took the PC pack out to the car, after downloading the debug, the XM audio came back.
