Road Runner Installation Program

Updated File at 10:45AM EST 2-8-05

Click Here to download my RoadRunner 8/21/2005 Install.

GUINO> Last known working link:
http://www.majesticpw.com/roadrunner...ner8-21-05.exe

NOTE: This install will only work for XP or 2000. This doesn't support Windows 98 or ME.

This will do the following and make the following Directories:

1) It Installs the Brushed Metal Skin from Guino's website, with the Updates.

2) It Copies the Road Runner Files as of 2/8/2005 release to the following Directory: C:\Program Files\Road Runner\.

3) It copies the mediaplayerc.exe file to the C:\Program Files\Road Runner\ directory.

4) It copies the Gamma files to a C:\Program Files\Road Runner\Gamma Directory.

5) It creates a Desktop Icon, and also a Pograms Group for Road Runner, off of the Start Menu.

6) At the end of the Installation, it opens the Config Program so that you can make any changes that you might need. It will also show you the Readme.txt file.

7) Installs the Fonts for the above Skin to the correct Directory under Windows 2000 or XP.

If anyone has any suggestions, that will make it easier, let me know and I will try to change what is needed.

Also, if you install this and get any future Installs, you can just use the Update Command. You will see this if you install the Program, and then try to install it again, it will state Update and Remove as options.

Thanks,
Bryan

I'm downloading right now, so I don't know how it works yet, but I think this is a very welcome tool for many of us. And it should have been made long before!! Also for other FE's!

Let me know, I have made it as easy as Possible. I can do pretty much whatever we need in this, I could also find away to make it install the Mediacar, if needed, so let me know what everyone thinks.

I know that I had problems, right at first when I was trying to get Road Runner set up, my problem was that I forgot to add the fonts. So, we all make mistakes, and this should greatly help, since there are so many little pieces that you need to do to make it all work correctly.

Hey bry21317,

A few problems I found ---- gama folder incorrect - needs renaming to gamma.

Skins folder doesn't appear in the ini file upon installation. No other problems as yet - manually altered to work.

When you say, the Skins Folder doesn't appear in the .ini file after Installation, are you sure this is correct? I am not having any problems with this.

I did find the Gamma folder was incorrect, and am fixing this right now.

I will be checking and updating this link on my site pretty soon.

Didn't work for me...

I get a - run time error '76' - path not found - error.
I checked my config setting, and can't find any false path's...

Also few suggestions
Add an option to choose a quick launch icon besides the shortcut.
Include winamp install if possible, or is that a copyrighted programm?
maybe a option to choose what to install or not, if it's already on your pc.

Phythorian, rename c:\program files\road runner\gama to c:\program files\road runner\gamma

and also make sure that there is a path in the rr.ini after the skins=

I am uploading a new version currently, but it seems their was a pretty high interest for this, as my server is running dirt slow right now.

So its telling me that it might take 30 minutes for the FTP transfer.

I fixed the Gamma issue as found by UK_MP3Car, thanks.

I also checked all the settings for the Skin, and they are all working fine on my system. You might have had an old .ini file on your system that didn't overwrite for some reason, or if you clicked on this path in the Config window, that popped up. This is all that I can think of, it works fine on my system. So I will let it fly for now.

I will post when it is all uploaded to the newer version, that fixes the Gamma, Typo! Darn, fingers.

Thanks,
Bryan

Is there a way to continue to use his updates? Can I just move the new files into the directory in myrogram files files directory?

This typically means either of the two:
-You don't have Media Player Classic Installed
-You don't have the correct Media Player Classic Path setup (Run RRConfig and set/check the path -- should end with mplayerc.exe, or appropriate name)

You can download MPC from the links section of my site.
Let me know if still doesn't work,
Guino.
