Sometimes I can get the calc jpg but the app itself wont launch (If I double click or hit 'launch', same result...nothing). Is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong?
Typically this means the path to the application on your Launch INI file is incorrect.. you should edit the INI files for the apps you wish to run and make sure they are correct along with their window titles. If the path is wrong, it won't run. If the windowtitle is wrong, it will run but you may not see it because it will not embed. I have not had any issue reported with the latest versions of RR regarding the launch screen -- in fact, lots of people use it.

Not sure if you have got this one... really hammered RR while I was away this week. Noticed the hide mouse problem ( which I see you have fixed ) and also when hibernating or starting the app the play type ( repeat / random ) is always ramdom only when the app restarts. I thought it was just me so I checked the setting in the config and it said last - as a result I tested this by leaving it in number of modes and each time after been in hibernation ( at least ) it still defaulted back to the random setting.
Thanks
Terran

I don't mess with the repeat/shuffle after hibernation.. but I can definitely force it to the last settings..

i found an interesting bug in girder.... sometimes when i hit "1" or "6" , instead of changing to different areas in RR, it completely closes out RR and winamp still plays the song, but i cant get back to RR, i have to end task to both rr.exe and winamp.exe and start over (which is a pain and def. dangerous while driving) i wonder why its doin that...

( Please if you can sort the setting after shuffle it would be much appciated - the setting defaults to Random which is a pain if you listing to an album or book )

I not getting this. I created a folder called launch in c:\program files\road runner. Set c:\program files\road runner\launch as the launch path in rr.ini, I then placed the jpg and ini (such as calc.ini) into it. Launch RR and hit applications and I get .. in the window. No apps listed. If I hit the double up arrow I see a calc jpg but cant launch it (checked the task mangler to see if maybe it was running but hidden...nothing). As a test I copied the path from the calc.ini file into run and it opened up the calc, did the same with the windowtitle, no problems.
There must be a step somewere I'm missing. If this works for other people, where are they putting the .exe's? are they putting anything other than a jpg and ini file in the launch dir? Is there some other file that needs to be modified to tell RR to allow an embedded app?

I've added that to the code already.. wait for new version..
The setting on RRConfig is for start/shutdown of RR only. When using hibernation, the shuffle/repeat is supposed to remain unchanged..

You must create subfolders within the launch folder for each app you want to run.. this is heritage from MediaCar.. for calc for example, you'd create a subfolder called "CALC" then add a jpg called CALC.JPG into that subfolder, then on top of that, you need to make a file calle CALC.INI with the following contents:
[GENERAL]
PATH=C:\WINDOWS\system32\calc.exe
WindowSearchString=calc
Only the JPG is optional. If the path or window title is wrong, or if the names of folder/INI/JPG don't match, it won't work/show.

BINGO!! Thats the solution...calc and notepad embed and work great! I've never used mediacar so I wasnt aware of the file format requirements. Thanks for the quick reply.
BTW, the reason I wanted to launch other apps is because I wanted to add a blind spot camera to RR. I found a standalone webcam player and sucessfully integrated it into RR. Embedded it and everything, works awesome! Any way I can get RR to run that app on startup?
Thanks much

you can run anything you want on startup.. just need to create a command to launch it... to launch it in the launch screen at startup will be tricky.. you'll probably need an extended command que (that I'm adding to the new version) in order to do that..
The other option you have is use the TV screen. You can configure the TV plugin to use your webcam and then going into the TV screen would bring that up.. if you then wanted to have that load at startup, you could simple enter "TV" (no quotes) in the start command field in RRConfig.

I considered that but it may be over my head. Im not a programmer and dont even know how to open you source code.
That having been said, Id love to learn. Any advice on how to tweak the TV plugin? Nothing in the folder jumped out at me as having anything to do with TV.

The plugin needs only a few settings to work with a webcam, you must basically disable the crossbar with audio and caption capture made for TV, then select the source device (webcam). Then go on "scan" and add the "channel" for our webcam. It is a little more complex than having your app running enbbeded... it just looks cooler
Anyway, to run RR in any specific size, go into the folder of your skin(s) and edit the general.ini file to define the size you wish to view the skin with. The two settings are showheight and showwidth, just set them with your resolution and you should be set... as a reminder expanding JPGs is probably going to reduce the quality of the images ..
