HELP - big RR skin site (a new one)
I'm working on a site that could help get all downloads for RR skins, and possibly more roadrunner stuff together in one place. (it's in an ISP, so should be nice and fast too!)
I'm working on the content management system at the moment, it's not rocket science, but I'm having to tweak it some.
I could use a couple of skinning volenteers with work completed and in progress to help me test and configure the site so that people who work on files can easily upload new bits to the site, and make sure that it's still got some security on the download side!
With no users on the site, it's a ***** to test, and I'm not sure at present what sorts of files skinners need to mash about to make all this stuff, so some real world advice would rock.
If you've got msn/yahoo messenger, and ever work in UK time, you'd be perfect! anyone else would be a huge help - debug by email just takes longer :P
anyhoo - PM me if you can help.
Ta

Files types most skinners would upload, jpeg to show on the site the skin, a zip of all the files and possibly the PSD should they wish others be able to alter the skins.

Heya Cat, if you're still doing this project I'm gonna need somewhere to host my CONSOLE_RR skin and PSD files?

Hey guys, I'm working with Caitlin on this, I'm currently writing a Web Based Skin Managerto allow the authors to upload their skins with both source files and screenshots. Others can then download these skins. If you need any skins hosting in the meantime, let me know and I'll provide you with some ftp details so mp3car users can download.

Hey UK_MP3Car,
I was thinking about writing some stuff for this, but since you are doing it let me give my suggestions form the developer point of view...
- Make it open to more than one frontend (This can be disabled if the person hosting it wants to keep size down)
- Make the author upload 1 or 2 zips (skin/source) and the softwar can let us look at screenshots of all screens by pulling all JPGs and sizing them for thumbnails,,,
Basically those were my ideas!

It was going to be frontend independant, i.e to allow for any skins for any frontend. the zip idea is a good one, I'll have to see how simple it will be.
I could do with some logos being done if anyone is up for it

What is your language of choice?
I know in PHP (this is what I'm used to) there are a ton of example of zip manipulation and of image manipulation (for resizing thumbs and such), and it wouldnt be that complex.... Just have to see what you are going to do it in it shouldnt be that hard... good luck!
