This is no issue.. it's simply impossible (as far as I know) to detect when an application is playing voice/sound, unless RR is the application making the sound itself.. so the volume reduction works in any voice over from RR.. but unless somebody finds a way to detect sounds from other applications, it will never work for external applications.. It is also important to note that if you don't use Mappoint, you should make sure your GPS setting in RRConfig is 0 (Zero), or your GPS application may not be able to open your GPS.

It would be nice to have the navigation speech louder and/or the reduction in volume be configurable to be more than 50%. I found it audible on the way to work but would have preferred it a little louder compared to the music.

well.. right now this controls the Winamp volume only (I intend to expand to video as well).. but the way to do this is set whatever winamp volume you want -- that's going to be your limit % to reduce... if you have winamp's volume at 80% than using 80% or value above it will resute in muting the sound while speaking.. 50% is the default only.. I have tried all ranges... I personally find it nice by leaving winamp vol at 50% and reducing 40% while speaking ... that only leaves 10% of volume while speaking directions.. The reasons I have winamp's volume at 50% are:
1-It allows me to play videos and music without noticing too much volume change, that is, without having to mess with the volume.
2-It allows me to move the EQ bands above center without distorting the sound too much..
3-It will allow me to add a "increase %" setting according to the car's speed in the near future..

I must have been half asleep this morning (actually, having been up to 4am I know for a fact I was ). I see now that it is configurable. I'll try reducing the music volume.

I'm struggling to get the latest build running on my dev machine which has MapPoint installed. When I run rrconfig and select mappoint as the default gps (the only way I can get it to work), I get:
---------------------------
RoadRunnerConfig
---------------------------
Run-time error '424':

Object required
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
and RRConfig exits. I didn't have this issue with the 3-19 drop.

Ooh, you read my mind - I was thinking that would be a great feature to add but was thinking ODB-II to achieve it. With a GPS, you don't need that. Excellent idea!

The problem with rrconfig in the sources zip is in optMappoint, line 793:
Private Sub optMappoint_Click()
lblMappointMap.Visible = True
txtMappointMap.Visible = True
End Sub

txtMappointMap isn't initialized to anything.

Looks like a search and replace of txtMappointMap with cmbMappointMap is required.

Had a chance to use the Radio/TV switching/reset option. Works well for me, but I seem to have lost my Radio channel list for some reason. I'll checked the radio.ini file. For some reason, the entries get updated with my last winamp playlist. Go figure. See Attached

Redownload the binary package I fixed it with RRconfig..

EDIT: you can tell I don't spend too much time on editing the config.. feel free to re-do it altogether if you want.. maybe on a touchscreen interface ? hehe

Interesting.. I'll double check.. it might have to do with the radio reset...

When you disable ID3 support it simply disables ID3 support altogether, meaning the TAGXXXX codes are useless.. When not using ID3 tags the "Playlist" label code will have the folder name of the songs you've selected (in most cases this is the artist name).

If the built-in player doesn't play a file, it's likely you need some sort of codec/filter to play that file.

1. I'm using the wintv usb and the reset option it set. It looks like BMVEE is experiencing the same problem. I'm not sure how to make a log file. Let me know if you still need it.

2. I see what you are saying about the ID3 tag. I disabled it thinking that it would display the file name but instead it seems that ID3 is still enable but only showing the song title and not the full file name. Here's an example.

file name: Gwen Stefani - What You Waiting For

but in the playlist or the browser it shows "What You Waiting For".
is there a way to display all the filename in a directory?

3. fixed the video codec problem.

Thanks

A couple of quick bug reports:
1. The GPS hadn't latched onto any satellites since I started in an underground car park. RR wouldn't run (same error as before) until it finally got a signal.
2. When I click, or possibly double click entries in the GPS route list, the music stops. When I navigate to the audio menu, it's showing the gps locations instead of music .

I'm more than happy to (time permitting - I have only 2 weeks to do my taxes now ). I'd like to see it integrated into RR itself (probably as an embedded app since having to skin it seems like a big waste of effort) and have it be a bit smarter at determining determinable stuff (skin locations, IExplore.exe location, that kind of thing) so you can just run RR and have some of the functionality just work straight off.

1-I've fixed the radio issue, it had to do with the card reset. (post fix soon)
2-After disabling ID3 tag, make sure your TitlesAfter option is EMPTY -- then the whole file name will display.
3-Good ..
