mpc problems for video & dvd

i used to use the built in video player and powerdvd, but i've recently discovered that mpc has a built in ac3filter which can boost and normalilze the audio of avi and dvd movies. low volume on movies has always been an issue for me so this was an exciting find. however, i am experiencing a few issues with mpc that i did not have with the built in player and powerdvd. maybe it's just me but i'm hoping someone can shed some light on these issues.

1. can the cursor be made to go to the bottom right corner instead of the top left when the controls hide? when it goes to the top left, the cursor is still visible in mpc.

2. mpc always starts with the seek bar visible when playing dvd's. if i play the dvd by going to the scene selection page in the dvd menu, 90% of the time, the seek bar hides itself when the main movie starts, but if i play the movie straight through from the beginning, the seek bar never goes away. the seek bar problem does not happen in the video player screen except if i load the video player and there is no movie file to play.

3. this is probably a mpc problem and not an rr issue, but playing dvd's with powerdvd, there is a resume playback feature which is nice, but with mpc, you have to sit through the intro and click on "play movie" in the menu, before it resumes from where you left off. i used to have an old version of powerdvd that worked with the ac3filter so that you could boost and normalize the audio, but the new powerdvd 6 uses it's own audio filter and i can't figure out how to get it to use ac3filter. i like powerdvd for the resume feature, and mpc for the volume boost and normalize feature. if anyone knows which version of powerdvd works with ac3filter, that would be ideal.

ok that was a lot. thanks for reading guys.

RR feature request

Ok so i guess no one else has a problem with volume on movies and videos.

Hey Guino,

Can you make the cursor go to the right side of the screen instead of the left for the video and dvd screens? Pretty please?

1 and 2 are issues, and I'll have to look at them.

3-MPC can only resume movies if they have no Previews or Menus. Even then it's because RR tells it to resume. There's no way to currently detect the structure of the DVD and resume to it. While the Normalize Boost can be nice on movies, I suggest lowering the volumes of Music, Radio etc, so that they're all about the same level and then turn up the master/amp volumes. The low volume of videos/dvds is generally so you turn up the volume of your sound system and then the movie controls a higher range of music/sounds during the playback.

thanks guino. you're the man. the only thing i'm really looking for at this point is to move the cursor to the bottom right instead of top left.

in my setup i kept my head unit and control volume through it. i keep my carputer volume at 100%f so that my mp3's play at approximately the same value as cd's. for dvd, i'm going to try to find the version of powerdvd i used to have that could use the ac3filter.

I dont know if the problem with the seek bar showing was ever sorted out but I have had the same problem and managed to resolve it by adding/changing the below line in Road Runner/mpc.ini

ControlState=0

Hope this help someone out
