Command to add a song from current playlist to playlist file?

Say I loaded a full album into the current playlist. As I listen to the whole album I found a song that I like and would like to add to my favor playlist. Is there a shortcut button that will allow me to add the current playing song into a playlist file stored on the HDD?

"SAVELIST" would require too many steps. I would have to first load up my favor playlist, then browse to the album and locate the song. After that I will add the song to the current playlist using "ADD1" command. The song will appear on my favor playlist and I need to save it with "SAVELIST".

I agree this can be useful and it is easy to add, but considering that users that save playlists normally have more than one playlist, I'd only add a ADDTOLIST command in a form that would require a playlist on the current screen (to select the item to add to a playlist), and a parameter specifying the playlist file to save to.. for instance:

"ADDTOLIST;C:\playlists\mylist.m3u" ..

Let me know if that's satisfactory or if you have any other thoughts.. I will not add a function for this purpose that is "hardcoded" to a setting or specific file.

1. This should work and its what I have in mind at first. The only draw back is that it requires one button for every playlist. Taking up usable spaces on the skin so it's not too scalable.

"ADDTOLIST;c:\playlist\hiphopfavor.m3u"
"ADDTOLIST;c:\playlist\Dancefavor.m3u"
"ADDTOLIST;c:\playlist\SlowJamfavor.m3u"
etc...

2. Ideally, there's one "ADDTOLIST" button. upon pressing it will pop up a new menu where user can choose from a list of playlists (from the "playlistpath" defined in RR.ini)...

--------------------------
Choose playlist to save to
--------------------------
HipHopfavor.m3u
DanceFavor.m3u
SlowJamFavor.m3u
--------------------------
[Cancel] [OK]
--------------------------

Then user hightlights the desire playlist and press "OK" button to append to the playlist. This is 3 steps process only, but its much more scalable and not cluster the skin's usable spaces.

If it's too complicated then may be we should start with the first implemenation. Then add #2 when time and resource allows you to do it.

You can always make a little popup menu that you can bring up with ONE button, and then have many buttons on that menu to execute the various commands.. It just takes a little more effort.. I just don't feel like working on a lot of specific screens support when not a whole lot of people will use this feature... give me at least 10 people interested and I'd easily consider it your way.

Need one of these to go along with “ADDTOLIST;C:\Program Files\Road Runner\MP3 Preset\PS12.m3u”

“SAVEPLAYLIST;C:\Program Files\Road Runner\MP3 Preset\PS12.m3u”

Instead of this

"ACTIVATE;Playlist Editor||SENDKEY;^sC:\Program Files\Road Runner\MP3 Preset\PS12.m3u{ENTER}Y"

Man, you definitely have some weird requests and features on your skin.. hehe lucky for you, this is a feature that only took 2 lines of code to add (for next release).

This would also rock for me. But personally i would have enough for 1 button for 1 playlist. I only keep up a "Favorites" list. Maybe an option in the rrconfig to set a default m3u file (i.e. favorites.m3u). Woudl it also be possible to add an option to show an icon if a song from the favorites.m3u list is playing at the moment or that it can be seen as favorite in the lists.

Centrafuse has that function also and i really liked this. I know there is also the ratings plugin, but this has to much functions.

Are these options implemented in the 2nd Sept. 2007 release?

This thread is about one and a half years old.. nice going on the search button... nothing is taken away from RR (or hardly that's the case).. so the commands on this thread do still work. The easiest thing you could do to identify a "favorite" song is to use the album art feature... if space is not an issue, you can copy (not move) your favorites to a 'favs' folder and make an indicator in the skin like "fileexists;c:\favs\$listtext$" (you'd have to add "SETVARBYCODE;LISTTEXT;LISTTEXT" somewhere on your ONSONGSTART event in exectbl -- I haven't tested any of this stuff, but I know it can be done) -- Other than that, you can easily make a plugin to provide an indicator when a file being played is on your favorites list, but I do think the ratings plugin is more appropriate.

I was just about to apologise for that. I also have found the SkinCommands.txt list and i have edited the skin a little so it now displays 2 buttons on the main screen, at least for adding a song to the Favorites.m3u and for loading the m3u. This works nicely . I`ll look into something to create a submenu for this. I also made a Screenshot about this. Me = Happy, and sorry for asking my question too early.
