Update Mappoint 2004 with S&T 2006 maps

Saw this buried in another post. Thought it might help others.

Wow.. this is very nice.. specially knowing that S&T 2006 has already been released and the latest mappoint is still 2004..

Sure.. then for an extra $250 we can get our maps updated... The only reason I'll wait to see is because I don't even have a computer in the car right now.. haha

I did this a little while ago using the maps from AutoRoute 2006. Annoyingly, MapPoint can't find my work postcode on the 2006 map (it was on the '04 one), but routing seems to have improved; it now finds more shortcuts rather than taking you the long way round.

Mappoint 06 will use even newer data then S&T2006 has, this is the reason why its not out yet, there waiting to get the latest data.

Yes, but it will have night mode from what I hear. All the functionality of Mappoint 2004 and all the cool additions for S&T 2006

I'll take new maps, there's lots of new stuff around here. But, if you have S&T, it has some new stuff.

AH....But will it have direction up, snap to road abd auto reroute if a wrong turn is taken like other programs have. This keep me from it now. Nothing worse then finding myself off into the bushes near the road I'm on.

Question

Does this work with the autoroute 2007 maps as well?
I have a (legal) copy of the mappoint 2004 and would like to

I'll answer my own question as it might be of interest for other europeans
that are challenged in the 'up-to-date-maps' department.

I did try to copy the content of the Autoroute 2007 Data directory into the
Mappoint 2004 data directory, and it seems to work like a charm.

Has anyone tried this with MP 2006 and any newer version of S&T?
