XM current info after station change
I can't seem to cobble together a proper search term, so I have to ask.
I haven't been here in awhile, but I thought I remember someone else (Chuck?) having the same oddball issue as me.
Example: I'm listening to XM station1, and it's playing fine, and songinfo changes accordingly. Then I change to station2, and the songinfo never changes. Subsequent station changes result in the same. Changing back to original station yeilds the same (no songinfo change).
If I turn car off then on (hibernate then wakeup) the current station that had the songinfo not changing now behaves appropriately...until the station is changed, and we go back into the loop.
I thought I could live with this, but it's turning out to be a real PITA. I have a pretty recent version of RR (from 2/19). This issue has been in like the past 4 versions of RR (I've been secretly hoping it would fix itself, but no luck).
Any ideas?

Try tapping the station name with your finger and see if it starts working.
I have the same issue at time, not always. I can change channel by tapping the station I want with my finger from the list but doing this does not always result in a working song change but if I tap the same station again it will work from that point on.
I have been living with this for nine months so far ;-) I'm used to it now and my wife does the same she does hits the station name again is all.

Thanks Chuck. Tried that, no love.
What the heck do we have in common that no one else has?
I should mention that this occurs in my skin, as well as other skins.
Also, the station name doesn't change in the list, or the labels.
This behaviour occurs if you change stations either via the list, or a direct-station button

Did you make your own XM cable or did you buy it from someplace?
I at least can get mine to work by tapping the station again and like I said it does not always do it. You seem to have a more consistent problem than me.
When your PC boots up can you go directly into XM right off the bat or do you find you have to wait a few seconds before doing so? How about if you put XM in the startup command? RR will lock up on loading if I put XM in the startup command and I have to wait a few seconds before going into XM after RR loads otherwise my stations get fudged up.
I have to send my setup to Guino at some point to try and duplicate it.

-I have a homebrew cable
-When it comes out of hibernation it starts right up.
I used to have the issue where the complete list wouldn't show, but that seems to have cleared up (no idea why). I also used to have the problem where my MP3 cover art would appear in the XM screen where the station art was supposed to be, but that cleared up as well.
Is your cable homebrew? If that's the issue, I'd gladly pick one up, but I doubt this issue is due to a funky cable/connection.
Hmmm. Guino needs XM to duplicate it.

I have a homebrew cable as well. I had it built by our cabling group here at work because they have all the tools. I too don't think it's a cable issue.
Well I am going to send my XMDirect and the cable to him because he can't duplicate the issues I'm having and he wants to rule out the hardware or rule in whichever is the case should help to nail this thing down I hope.

just out of curiosity, is there a way to change station that always results in propper song updates for you guys ? (i.e. NEXT/PREV, double-click/click on station, I'm not sure when you guys got your XMD1000 but there may be something different between our units..

Mine will work if I double click on the station name, just not sure how quick of a double click.
My carPC is out of commision at the moment and may not be up and running until the weekend right now.
It will usually work if I wait a period of time before going into XM. I know this is not what you hoped to hear but there is not definitive way that I found that will work ALL the time.
Thx,
Chuck

well, I tried the double click. That did work. Sorry I said it didn't.
At least that's a good fix for now. next/prev doesn't work.
I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but if you hit one of the direct program channel buttons, the highlighted bar in the list doesn't move to match what you just selected. Not a problem, just an observation.

Hi guys,
I was just reading your thread and wanted to note that I'm having the same issue. I sure hope there's a fix for this since its quite annoying.
I'm using an XMD1000 that came bundled with the Audiovox/Terk XM Commander system. I'm wondering if the firmware inside the commander system is slightly different than the XM direct units sold as standalones?

Do any of you guys use the single-click option with XM ?

I'm subscribing with the same issue. Double clicking on the station will always make it update (and keep updating for me). This really rears its ugly head when on the GPS screen and title isn't updating.
I just bought my XMD1000 from an authorized reseller on ebay. I believe it has the grey XM logo.

Guino,
I use a single click selection from my list as well as a direct favorite channels buttons.
I tap once from my list of stations and the station will change but I have to tap it again in order for the channel song to update.
I also have 8 stations which I created quick link buttons for. I tap the station icon and the station will change but I have to tap the icon again in order to get the channel song to update.
Hope this helps.
Chuck

I have the same problem with the XM Commander & RR - must double-click to get updates. Thought this was normal. Its routine to me now, even with my presets I double-click and all is well. Compared to trying to get internet radio to update this is not even an inconvenience to me.
