Cool RR and built-in GPS

A simple question for everybody.... In order to use RR's tags expressed in skin commands.txt like "GPSSPEED" etc... is destinator or freedrive or anything like that required ? I was under the impression that RR only needs to be told what COM port the GPS sensor was on and that's it. My tags all show zeroes with the GPS sensor connected.

In order to utilize the labels (GPSSPD, GPSSAT,GPSHDG, etc...) in RR you do not need mapping software.

Open your RR.INI file and make sure GPSPORT=X where "X" is the com port your GPS receiver is on.

Are you using iGuidance at the same time? If so just get xPort and set it to split out the com port the GPS unit is on to two (or more) other com ports. Then just point the iGuidance program to one of those ports and see RR.ini to use the other port.

you don't need mapping software installed, but if you do have some software installed (most likely), then you need a port splitter like Xport to get the GPS info to BOTH RR and your GPS app... RR will attempt to collect the GPS data from FD/MM automatically though -- as longa as they're setup propperly.

That's exactly how I have it setup. I use Xport to split com5 to com6 and com7. But it doesn't work Strange... I guess I'll try it again.

p.s. Xport doesn't work all that well anyway. It only helps the resume from hiberation problem about 50% of the time ... :/

I was having the same problem so I contacted the author of Xport, Curiosity, and he was very helpful. He gave me a new version to test. It's not perfect but it's been a big improvement over the previous one. I don't know if he wants me giving it out, but I doubt he'd mind.
