AUDIO CD playback someone???
This is some of the basic feature I would like to have WORKING in my skin for Roadrunner. Anyway it seems like very few have this feature auto-working. There are always a lot of editing in the ini-files that I cant make to work. I also tried the CDmonitor utility from some thread here but that did not even install correctly.
I can use the dvd-skin to play cdīs but it isnt designed for cdītracks. I would like to have it integrated with my audio skin (mp3 using winamp)
I use the simplistique skin which I like very much. Have also tried the cfx skin with actual cd-play/eject/unload buttons but It doesnt activate anything even after edit to the exectbl.ini
Some one ???

I can just play songs on my harddrive
I have spent many hours now on this so called easy setup but no luck...
My skin (simplistique) doesnt include the file that contains the loadcd command.. Can I still add it somehow? becaus Itīs not nice to have one skin for audio cdīs one for ripping, one for trouble free navigation etc..
Is there any skin that is finished and that doesnt need me to edit and add for a month until I get it ready to use? Most people who make skins start with a project and then goes to holliday and say that they MIGHT finish their skin someday.... (1 year later - no progress).

Easy there bud,Skinning ain't easy,if it were you wouldn't need to ask this Question.
There are lots of very good (FINISHED) skins but as you noted "some are more finished than others",and by this i mean they all support different functions.
If i find a skin with a feature i like i just copy the button codes from the .skin file into my skin file or reproduce the same code in my skin with RR's Skin editor.
For skinning help see the SKINING RR FAQ here= http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=57344

No you can use it with any skin you want. You only need the "load.bat" and "unload.bat" which you can get there --> http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=62195 (download "cfx tools")
Then you have to edit both files (right paths to winamp) and add
this lines to ExecTBL.ini -->
"LOADCD","SETVARBYCODE;SAVEDTRACKNUM;TRACKNUMBER|| SETVARBYCODE;SAVEDTRACKPOS;CURRENTTRACKTIME||RUNQW ;d:\.....\LoadCD.bat" "H||LOADLIST;D:\Winamp 2.91\winamp.m3u;Audio CD||!BROWSE"
"UNLOADCD","RUNQW;d:\.....\UnloadCD.bat||LOADLIST; D:\Winamp 2.91\winamp.m3u"
For Eject and reload the "old" playlist make a button like this "EJECT||UNLOADCD"

Yeah keep cool!
Most people who have made skins so far created them for their special purpose(s) and perhaps you will never find a "properly" skin for yourself. But there are .psd files, tutorials, a great working community...
And don't forget skinning is very time consuming and so people skinning only necessary screens.
---> read,read,try,read,try,try and then ask

patience, patience.. wish I was a programmer at the moment. well well. I´ll try one more time later with the load cd stuff.. But as I said, my skin that I use doesnt include a execTBL.ini file.. can I use another and then put it *where?* in skin dir or in RoarRunner main dir?
Winni: I understand that many do only necessary screens but I thought that using regular cd´s would be such a screen. As someone wrote earlier in the forum - when You drive other people they would after the "wow-what-a-cool-car-system-10 minute period" want to test with a regular cd and then I go.... "Eeeh... I dont know how - but I can use cd-rip so we can listen to that cd after 5 minute waiting" mm.. very usable....

By the way. I found a simple way to access the cd:
(maybe have been said before).
Just add a directory inside the music folder path You have set in RoadRunner and then make a shortcut file there that points to Your cd-unit. Then You can just press that file and *poff* Your cd comes up on display. And with this You can decide if You want to play cd´s or harddrive files without the autoplay feature-need.
If I press the winamp visualization plugin - I will see the name of the song and artist playing also (probably with auto-help of CDDB database from winamp in the background) Requires internet connection.
Remember to add the .lnk file extension in "music" config in Roadrunner settings.
NOTE: I guess if someone did make a big playlist before this and expects it to be there when You stop listen to the cd - it´s probably gone... but anyway I dont use the playlist feature that much currently. I gues this is an easy method for people like me that doesnt have a Play-cd button in the music player skin
Comments anyone : ?

Hi! Abit of old revival of sorts. I've searched (yeah, noobie search, yihoo!).
I'm trying to figure out a simple way to play AudioCDs. I've tried your way bimmerpc, by adding a shortcut into my music directory. But in RR I can't seems to be able to see the shortcut?! (I've tried adding .ink/.ico in the RRConfig). Any ideas?
Thanks!

try this....
in notepad, make a file with the entry:
G:\;>CD DRIVE<
Where G is the CD drive's letter
Name the file BROWSE.RRL and save it into your music folder
make sure it's not named browse.rrl.txt (save as type "all files")
add .cda to audio file types in RRCONFIG's music section
now your CD drive should show up on the top of the list when you enter audio browser

Nice, Clean, Simple sollution!
What a SIMPLE solution Rich! I never thought of going that route. Works perfectly, and the bonus is when you double click the first song, all songs are then added to the playlist, so you can just next / previous track all you want.
NOTE: If you add that line into road runner config, you are automatically overiding the default audio types, so you will also need to put .mp3,.wma ect or you will not see any of your MP3 files.

.CDA is already a default extension, so really all you have to do is add the browse.rrl entry
