It seems the latest version of the installer doesn't have a zips.dat or ziplocater.dll. I assume it was omitted as to not confuse issues for noobs.
Zips.dat or Zips didn't come up in a search, so I thought I should mention it.
Edit: "also note for anyone using the RR installer to install Road Runner, after you install you must delete the file ziplocator.dll or RR will crash and burn. This file should not be included with RR anymore."
And there's my answer.

If you maybe listened to what the error said you would have answered your own question.
THere is no skin in the folder you told it was. Didnt tell it where to find a skin? Then you didnt install it correctly and configure it.

Impossible. That error only happens when the skin isnt where it is said to be. That folder location is the default, and that skin doesnt go with RR anymore. So you didnt set the skin path. If it works, then you set the skin path which I suggested you to do.
If not, you may help others by letting them know how you did it...

I'm guessing maybe the issue was his path had 'RoadRunner' in it and not 'Road Runner'. When I installed RR, it defaulted to RoadRunner as well and I had multiple issues with getting skins to work. Changing it to 'Road Runner' fixed all of that.
Just speculation though.

taking into account the high possibility that I am an idiot....
where's the updater link? The one in post #1 just goes to a web site.

Does the website say?
The W3bMa5t3r's Downloads - Mirror System
Thank you for downloading a mirrored file. As a courtesy to mirror hosts, please make all downloads through the link you clicked to get here. If the download fails, just click on the link again and it will redirect to a new mirror.
Please wait while you are redirected. If the file doesn't start downloading automatically, click here.
if so click where it says 'here' or allow popups for that site

I was under the impression the updater was a much smaller file rather than the full installer.

The updater is a much smaller file, but alot of folk have had issues getting it to work correctly. One of these days I'll rerelease a (hopefully) better version.

I just ran the updater and it worked.
Most everythign works, but when I click on music
it doe snot play my mp3's (and the config is pointing to the right directory C:/MP3s)
when I click on the play list
the next screen does in fact showmy play list, but in the playlist symbol on the right in the middle of the up and down triangles there is a RED X over it....
clicking on any of the songs does nothing
any ideas?

Did you make sure to select mp3 as a music file extension in RRConfig?
