Crazy Font problem? Please save me!

Ok, I'm a relative neubie here, but been fooling with RR for most of the year. I seem to be plagued with a display problem were the fonts seem like they're too big on most skins. In particular, I've been tyring iDrive (which is awesome, by the way, just like everthying about RR...) and it's like some fonts are too big and it pushes things off to the right, or cuts them off on the screen where new windows start. I have a similar problem with iGuidance 3 and UMPC, although it doesn't always manifest itself the same way.

I've tried everything I know of in the way of changing display settings, font size i.e. normal, large or extra large. I've verified screen resolutions, tried a couple different ones, and am currently using 800x600. I've also verified that the default windows fonts are installed. I know this has to be simple, but I just can't figure it out. I swear though, it just looks like some fonts are too big. I've been struggling with this for weeks, please help before I go insane!! or insaner...

1-Make sure the DPI setting of the display properties is set to normal
2-Make sure you have the fonts propperly installed -- you can NOT extract the fonts directly into the windows\fonts folder -- you MUST extract them somewhere else first then COPY them in there so they're propperly installed.

Those are the two only things that could cause the fonts to not look right.

are you positive that all the fonts required by the skin are installed in your computer?,do you have a stripped down xp? some people do erase default fonts, another thing, almost all the skinners use some custom fonts be sure to have them properly installed.why dont you try the skin editor for more info on the skin.

DPI!!! I just remembered that back last December, when I started the project, I did reset that DPI to try and run native windows on a 7" Xenarc, before I discovered this forum. Then I had to leave home and drop the project for 7 months... How could I forget the DPI!

I had it at 115%. Rebooting now. Moment of truth is fastttttt approaching...

usegestures=false . I figured it out myself just before I read you post Enforcer. I'm proud of myself.

Thanks again. This is incredibly nice software. I can't wait to get it all sorted out and installed. I'm aiming for next week for my carputer install. And I figure it will take the whole week

This is only the start.

Mine went in over three years ago, and is still not finished. There's always something new to add on or change.
