I currently use iTunes as my music player, so it has orgainzed all of my music on its own. When i set the "music path" as the iTunes folder, and then load RR and go to the music tab all of my music is everwhere. In the list there are like 2-3 copies of each song and as i scroll down there are random mumbers and back slashes infront of the songs and artists, some of the songs have the artists and album titles, and others have nothing at all but the song title...

If any one is using their iTunes folder are their "music path," PLEASE let me know how you have the RR config set up so that your music is Organized. THANKS A LOT!!!

your probably better off not letting any application automatically organize your music the way it sees fit. When you browse your music lib in windows explorer do they show up this way also?

It sounds like you need to go in and manually fix your lib.

YES the target for the music folder is {C:\Documents and Settings\Cory\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music} and then in that final folder named iTunes Music there is a bunch of folders that are all titled with artists, and then in the artists' folder there are albums, and then once you are in the album folder there are all of the songs for that artist/album.

Taggings MP3's correctly

It sounds like you have all your songs in the correct directory structure on the hard drive, so I don't think that is an issue at all.

How are the individual songs names in the artists/albums folder, are they named like:

Code:
Artist Name - Song title.mp3

Are your songs all correctly tagged with the artist and title of the song? You mention on some songs just the title is showing up. This sounds like you are missing the tag's in the MP3 files.

Open the Road Runner Config utility, and click on the music tab. Under "Use Id3 Tags" try setting that to not use tags. If you songs files are named correctly, and in the directory structure you mentioned, this should work.

It really just sounds like you need to get all your MP3 tags in order, to make everything show up the way you want. It is a royal pain, and time consuming, but is something most of us have been through before.

Not sure becuase i have not loaded the computer in a while, but i am thinking that the actual mucic file is only named by the name of the song, so the title would contain only the song name not a artist or any other inforamtion. My guess would be that iTunes uses the different artist/album folders to organize its music. What do i do now?!?! is it bad that all of the music is organized in this manner? If the files are only named by their title? Do I have to change all of the names of my 2,500 songs?

Unfortunaly I do not have the PC in the car yet and jsut returned back to my project done doing stuff for everone else. Anyways I fired back up the beast today and looked the music files, Seems like iTunes ony has the song title in their File name. There in no artist or album. BUT when i look throught the music in Winamp, it is all organized nicely just like it is in iTunes ( the way i want it) How come nothing can just work?!?

Did you look in Road Runner config like I suggested? You can set how you want the songs displayed in Road Runner "%title% - %artist%" for instance. If they are appearing correctly in Road Runner, with a bit of midifactions in the config, you should be able to view everything the way you want.

I also suggest checking out an EXCELLENT program for tagging your MP3's. It is commercial software, but they have a 30 day trial available for download. The program is Tag & Rename and is a great way to see if your tags are set correctly. Also for full albums, click the track number column header to sort them in the order of track number, and use the pull down menu Tools/Get album titles from free DB, and it can fill in all of your tags automatically, if they are all tagged correctly.
