Anyone thought of embedding Skype into RR?

I currently have the Motorla Q and it doesn't work with PhoCO or any other intergrated phone tool for Road Runner. I NEED some sort of handsfree phone so I was thinking; maybe its possible for someone to build skype into Road Runner? This way anyone can make any call from their car for free using skype. Let me know what you all think.

I just got the verizon usb720 card. Its always connected to the internet.

Am confused here, so where does the FREE phone calls come in after you have paid your data rates?

i dont think its a bad idea, unfortunately a lot of other people do based on silly ideas. You can embed skype into RR but there are a few issues. One the skype window will only resize down to a certain size, may or may not be an issue depending on your screen res in the car. 2 some of the buttons in the skype ui are a little small , most importantly the dialer buttons which are freaking tiny for no apparent reason.
In a perfect world someone would make a plugin that interfaces with the skype protocal for RR. But most people dont feel strongly enough about using voip in the car to do so.

If you have an allways on data connection in your car i dont see any reason why you shouldnt use it skype. If you are going to have the net connection anyway, either way you cut it using skype will be cheaper than using your cellphone. Thats only if your not getting the net connection solely for skype usage, which i highly doubt.

I think as more people get cheaper and faster internet in there car they will also start to look more seriously at these options.

Hate to revive an old thread, but I am currently using EyeBeam in the car. I connect it to my Asterisk server at home and can make unlimited calls using VoIP.

I have it embedded using your LSXVOID 3.2 skin. I was just thinking how great it would be to have it as part of the skin (hint, hint)

Either way, I still love your skin...with or without it. Now, when I install RR, I don't even think about installing any other skins. Thanks for all your hard work!

please make a skype plug in for roadrunner, now unlimited plans for cell phones are good and more cheaps than other times.... CF have this plug in... RR not

It's not hard to make a plugin using the skype COM api now..
