DLSLIDER Bug with Artist View
The new iLists and all the work that has went into the lastest version are amazing! I have run across a couple of glitches / bugs:
Using iLists, when browsing the default music directory, and you use a DLSLIDER to jump way down the list, RR skips most of the letters of the alphabet and slows to a stop at the selected point, working perfectly.
When you are using the
-- Album --
-- Artist --
-- Genre --
At the top of the list, and select "Artist" the DLSLIDER acts differently. It scrolls through each and every artist in the list. It took RR over 2 minutes to get to the bottom of the list watching every single artist scroll by
I have a lot of artists, as I have a lot of compilation albums, so the list is quite long.
Also the DLFORMAT does not seem to be working with the iLists. I have the following code in my skin, on a button, to toggle how the names are displayed in the browser list:
Code:
B,698,84,98,79,"DLFORMAT;%title%||SWITCHBUTTON;10>>DLFORMAT;%artist% - %title%||SWITCHBUTTON;10>>DLFORMAT;%title% - %artist%||SWITCHBUTTON;10",
This also does not work on the Playlists as well. When I press the button, the iList flickers but the list format for the names displayed do not change.

I'll check on the formats...
On the scroll issue, from what I could test it worked fine here, can you send me an example so I can look at it ?

I just tossed a Video up on YouTube, as I didnt know how else to give you an example. Here it is:
I cut the video above short, just so it was not a huge upload. The list took 1 minute and 23 seconds to stop scrolling, and to reach the position of the slider. The same happens when using the "Jump to letter" feature in RR.
EDIT: With further testing, when I am in the standard browser mode, and click anywhere on the slider, the list stop scrolling in almost exactly 1 second. If I am at the top, click the center of the slider, 1 second. If I am at the top, and click the bottom of the slider, 1 second. SO it appears RR has some code to skin a portion and slow the scroll to a stop in 1 second.
While viewing artists, as the above video illustrates, it does not do any type of "jump" and scrolls through every single item.

Do you have any idea of how many artists you have ? This may be related to the number of items it's trying to "jump"..

I was trying to figure out a way to tell that..... Then thought of Media center, it has a "By Artist" list. The total artists I have are 4,157.

I have one other report saying that the list sometimes does crazy jumps like that when over 3800 items or so.. it works, it just doesn't do the fast-skip it's supposed to do.

I have a similar issue with the playlist. I have one with 2750 songs in it and when I play in shuffle mode the list just keep scrolling till it finds the next song to play. There is no fast jump to the next song.

I have to test this thing -- I need to get a few more songs to try it first.

You can just make a an empty text file, and copy it like 10 times, then copy that 10 times, and that 10 times and so forth to get a couple thousand text files.
Then you can test the jump to letter on a standard directory list.
