RR Not Responding
After a couple minutes of use or after hibernation RR seems to stop responding. A friend of mine has the same problem and we both have the M10000 Via mobo.. anyone have any suggestions?>

When it freezes:
-Does the mouse stop working ?
-Can you use CTRL+ALT+DEL To pull the task list ?
-Do other running applications stop working ? (i.e. winamp) ?
Please, make a debug log and post it, also, please list the hardware and software you're using with RR (XM, SIRIUS, Radio card, Destinator, Mappoint etc).
It is unusual for any hibernation issue to happen other than immediately after hibernation -- that's why I need all that.

I am having the same problem. Most times I am only listening to MP3s. I am running the latest RR BETA with an SP13000 and SteelBlues. This has been getting progressively worse over the last 3 days. When I start the carputer (cold start/reboot/hibernation) I can click on any buttons a total of about 10 times.
The RR skin then freezes, somewhat...
1. The music keeps playing.
2. The time, speeds keep showing correctly.
3. If iGuidance is running (not every time), iGuidance works fine
4. CTRL. ALT. DEL- works fine. brings up task manager, no services are peaking.
5. I tried switching to 2 other skins... same thing
6. When this happens you no longer see the background colors of the skin when you touch the screen.
7. The Touch screen works fine with any other app I bring up.
8. I have done No Windows updates in the last weeks.
TIA

That's Weird. Please:
1-Double check you do not have a GPS, XM or SIRIUS port setup with the wrong setting or to a port that does not have the corresponding device attached to it.
2-TRY Disabling gestures
3-See if there's any pattern to what you're clicking at that causes it to freeze
4-If nothing fixes it, make a debug log and post it.

I switched back to the latest stable rr.exe (for testing) and all is fine now. I will switch back tomorrow and get you a debug output.
1-Double check you do not have a GPS, XM or SIRIUS port setup with the wrong setting or to a port that does not have the corresponding device attached to it.
The GPS is correctly configured. I have no other ports installed/setup
2-TRY Disabling gestures
No gestures
3-See if there's any pattern to what you're clicking at that causes it to freeze
There is no patern. Different buttons, different screens, different skins...
4-If nothing fixes it, make a debug log and post it.
Could ou give me a quick how to

add debugmode=true to RR.INI and run it (till it freezes). then post the debug.txt file created in RR's folder.

Uppdated my RR to "latest" version (exe file reporting product version 1.0.0.0) of 12.04.2007.
Before uppgrade all worked smooth and perfectly.
HW. (I cant remember all the details of the HW. But can be found if i hawe to).
MSI Mainboard (P4 Celleron 2.4ghz, 512mb ram, Onboard GFX)
G-Mouse BU-353 (USB GPS)
Lillput 10.4" (Toutch screen)
Sound blaster (soundcard)
D-link (USB Bluetooth)
ZyXEL ZyAIR B-300 (PCI WiFi card)
Hawe also tested the same RR version on my Compaq Evo N800c portable computer. Exactly the same happens on that computer.
This is what happens.
I start computer from anny mode (hibernated, warmstart, Codlstart) and roadrunner starts as normal. I can now use the frontend as nomral for days. As long as i do not start anny GPS apps or software embedded in roadrunner (Hawe not tryed to start un embedded either). If i enable the com port for the GPS in rr config or start the GPS software as mapmonkey, iGuidance or FreeDrive. Then rr continues to run for a coupple of minutes. Then freezes up. Winamp continues playing seamingly untoutched by this freeze of rr. CTRL+ALT+DEL and i see that rr and the GPS software like FreeDrive or other mentioned is reporting as "Not responding". Everything else seams to work perfectly fine. I hide startmenu and icons + + when i start rr. So nothing on my desktop after forcing rr and the gps software to shut down. But if i opens a folder or other SW before i start roadrunner. Those SW or folders can be used while RR is freezed.
I have generated a log file. But its way large to poste here. Last lines of the log when it freezes how ever is as follows.
Quote:

I can make the rest of the log available on request. Or send it as an e-mail.
Hope to get it back to top notch again. As i love using it.
oh. btw. Tryed new and old skins. Just changed to a new scin that looked top notch but it needed the new version of RR. When it got unstable. i tryed changing back. But no fix by doing that. The same happens no mather what scin or what GPS SW i use. Same thing happens if i enable RR to use the GPS for things like speedometer, Altitude and so on in a skin.
For short. As long as i dont use the GPS mouse or unplugg it compleetly all is working top notch.
All help greatly apreciated.
(And sorry about lousy english. Im an norwegian carputer lover).

This thread is older, but matches what I am seeing.
It worked perfectly before I put the 4-11-07 version on...yes I uninstalled it but the problem is still there.
I have worked around the problem by autostarting IG when RR starts up.
This does not occur with the standard skin loaded.
So obviously something was installed when I put the new version on that is incompatible with my skin...and remained installed when I removed it and reinstalled the older version.
(logs show nothing out of the ordinary)
Here is the issue. RR starts, and after a minute or so Windows pops up a box that says something like RR has a problem and is shutting down. Winamp keeps playing in the background.
So what did the newer version of RR install that did not exist in the older versions...dll files etc?

Same thing that happened to Niob, rr freeze when i use gps.
an debug.txt end always with:
Code:
05/08/2007 17.59.39: Enter Exec: Falso, every skin that use gps input.skin, -LOCATE-, Falso
05/08/2007 17.59.39: Que Exec: Vero, every skin that use gps input.skin, -LOCATE-, Falso
05/08/2007 17.59.39: Executing: LOCATE
i don't know what is "locate" command, maybe a command that works only with "yankee" positions? (i'm italian, niob is norwegian )
edit:
localdatacaptureinterval in rr.ini set to 0, it doesn't freeze

The Locate command was introduced to determine city/zip and state of the current GPS position -- this is done using a lookup on the Zips.dat file -- which only contains USA data. So if you live elsewhere, you should not set it to try and determine your location -- as it simply won't be able to.

I was just having a problem with my install: about 2 to 3 minutes after starting RR it would become non responsive. Task Manager would show 50+ instances of an Exec.exe process (which I believe came from skins/Digital FX 3.0/Scripts/Exec.exe). I had X-Port splitting the GPS COM port for my BU-353. I unplugged the GPS and disabled Xport and didn't have the problem. I plugged the GPS back in and left Xport off and still don't have the problem. Even tho I more or less solved my problem of RR not responding I still have a couple questions.
Don't you need the port split for different apps in RR? I still haven't gotten GPS weather working.. I don't know where you set the port for that..?
EDIT: Found the real solution.. had to delete ziplocator.dll from the RR dir.
