Just checked the freedom ultimate skins and had to adjust them.
Now everything is in post 35 for both mbedded and standalone. I have added a readme to the zip file that explains installation.
The new skin also allows playing of any file allowed from video and audio file types in your rrconfig.

Seems to work now
Is it possible to stop the music automatically when I switch to DVD, and stop the DVD when I switch to music?
There is a little typo in post #35:
&mainbut15=VlcDVD@icons\dvd.png@LOAD;vlc.skin;R UN; C:\program files\carputer\road runner\rrvlc.exe;RRVLCscrn1;",""&
There is a space in RUN that does not belong there. Most peoples have installed RR in the following map:
C:\program files\road runner\rrvlc.exe (without carputer)
Maybe that this helps making the integration easier.

Great. Thanks I will fix that and change to the generic path.
It is possible to do the stop music when rrvlc starts etc but what would trigger it. Opening RRvlc? Clicking the dvd button? opening the vlc.skin? Might be a bit more trouble than its worth but if you can come up with a good idea I can do it.

I think that the music should stop when I open the VLC (DVD) player via a menu button. Exiting the VLC (DVD) player should start the music again.
I've now installed your VLC DVD player bar, but I don't really need this. I only want to control the VLC (DVD) when I'm in the VLC (DVD) menu. Is it possible to make this?

The only way to control the rrvlc in this skin is through the vlc dvd bar. It is just available in every screen. Not sure why you think you dont need this.
Have you thought about using just the rrvlc for video AND music? The you dont have to worry about music playing over video.

I think the disadvantage of using VLC as music player that you have to make play lists. In the Ultimate skin audio player you can select a map with Mp3 songs to play which is easy to use without preparing an M3u list.

Yonu had the same problem. Which version of vlc have you installed. The plugin doesn't work with the latest version. I haven't had time to update it yet.
The latest version that I know it works with is 0.8.6i.

This plugin sounds like it might just be the ticket to solve my need for simultaneous playback and control of music and video on different monitors.
And Freedom Ultimate looks like a great skin... but I can't seem to find where to download it? It's so frustrating trying to play catchup on all these skin and app developments months after that fact...
Can anyone hook me up with the FU skin? Thanks kindly in advance.

OK, I managed to find a copy of FU, and tried to follow everything in post 35, but I'm not getting much joy here. Coupla quick questions, if you don't mind, as I review all the steps again.
1. In your setup, in which you were using VLC on a second monitor, you used the standalone, not the embedded options, right?
2. At what point should VLC.exe be invoked? I've installed the right version, and followed the directions, but I'm not seeing VLC load at all.
3. How do I get to the videobrowserArt screen?
4. Theoretically, when all is said and done, I should (might?) be able to output video (plus sound) to a second monitor and still output music and control navigation on a second sound card, right?
Thanks much.
[EDIT: OK, please forgive the newbishness of these questions, I've only been playing with RR for a week.
I take it menu.txt is supposed to outline all the different options I can scroll through from the menu with the up/down arrows. I also take it that an option called DVDPlaylist is supposed to show up and take me to the videobrowserArt screen. Well, for some reason, nothing after &mainbut15=Files is showing up, it just goes back to Audio again. Is there some trick to accessing a fourth menu page?]

Yes it was standalone.
I have a button that starts vlc from rr but it runs standalone. Use this &mainbut15=VlcDVD@icons\dvd.png@RUN;C:\program files\carputer\road runner\rrvlc.exe;",""&
In theory you could just add rrvlc to the startup folder. If rr isn't started rrvlc will automatically start it.
The dvdplaylist button should show you video art. What do you see? post screenshot.
Yes. I run two screens in the back of my car with video for the kids and have a touchscreen in the front running GPS and music. You have to set winamp to a different sound card or use the sound card settings in rrvlc but never tested that properly.
