Blades-Edge is on the edge of finished. Of course everytime I turn around I think of something cool and new to do with it. But I like to give it tons of testing to make sure I have something good before I can say it is done. As of now, I only have a few more screens to make and it will be ready for a first release.

Hi All,
I have been following this closely, as much as possible.
I have been trying my self to get gmpc to work with the std RR osk in BMV2.
I started by using the External GPS skin and adding a button calling "APPSOK".
try not to shoot me down but I am very new at this, thank you to ThunderStick, this is what I found is working for me, any advice will be greatly appreciated.
My first objective was to clear out the text box when opening the OSK.
Then to get the backspace to work;
Added in the External.skin
B03,635,0,45,54,"GMPCTYPE",@GMPCTYPE@
In the OSK.skin
K12,709,191,088,078,001,008,008,"MYBS||BACKSPACE", "Backspace"
In the Exectbl.ini
"GMPCType","ACTIVATE;Garmin Mobile PC||SENDKEY;{BACKSPACE}{BACKSPACE}{BACKSPACE}{BACK SPACE}{BACKSPACE}{BACKSPACE}{BACKSPACE}{BACKSPACE} {BACKSPACE}{BACKSPACE}{BACKSPACE}{BACKSPACE}{BACKS PACE}{BACKSPACE}{BACKSPACE}{BACKSPACE}{BACKSPACE}{ BACKSPACE}{BACKSPACE}{BACKSPACE}||APPOSK"
"MYBS","RUN;C:\Program Files\RoadRunner\skins\BMV2\Scripts\garminsendkey. exe|{BS}"
Thank you all again.
Tyrone

I Read these instructions:
"OK here it is the moment we have all been waiting for.
THE GARMIN MOBILE PC OSK
It works with command line input
To send the character "K" to Garmin the command line would be
GarminSendKey.exe K
It will send any "autoit compatible" send key command to garmin.
For Road Runner Create a buttons command as follows
"RUN;$SKINPATH$scripts\garminsendkey.exe|1"
-This will send 1 to the text box"
Sorry for sounding noob, but where would this go.
I'm not familiar with sendkey commands, or where to create buttons for RR. After a quick search, I realize what they do, and how they work, but I'm still unclear whether this is a skin.ini, exec, or ?, mod......
The skin I'm using now "Teknik V.2" worked nearly perfect for radio, music, and video right from the get-go. I messed around a bit to get GMPC to work, and considering my inexperience, I'm surprised I got that to work.
Simply put, how did you incorporate this into your skin? Not looking for someone to hold my hand, just need to get pointed in the general direction.

In te zip file for the Garmin Send Key script there is an HTML file called instructions. This will really help alot.
You will also have to create an OVERLAY skin using the elcosmenu overlay plugin. This will allow you to create a skin that will display on top of Garmin. This is how the OSK is being created.
THis really is not Newbie territory but if you want to dive right in to the mess we call RR, then feel free to give this a shot as well.
Good luck hope this clears up some of your answers.

I actually wrote another version, using the "receiver code" I mentioned a few posts up. It is already incorporated into the skin here. It will definitely be in the next DFX release / patch. You can check the DFX thread for a screen cap.

Thanks brother, I'm not afraid to make mistakes. Creating back-up points is like breathing for me. damn ms os's will do that to you after 15 years of fiddlin'
I'm assuming others have made overlay skins, so since RR is opensource, I'll "take a look" at what others have done to see if I can adapt and overcome.
Thanks again

I am planning to get it out to the public very shortly, I've just got to finish the 800x600 version and get it all uploaded. Hope to get this done tonight, but it may go into tomorrow.
Here's an updated screen cap that will be in the release:
The buttons look more like they came with the GMPC, and I've added the volume keys to the bottom right.

do the volume keys control GMPC's volume or is it a global volume control that will turn your music down too?

My overlay volume keys will control the winamp master volume (so, everything.)
I only have a trial version, so I haven't really been able to test a whole lot of the program yet.

I'm camping here, waiting eagerly for John, Thunderstick & MonkeyRacer to finsish their OSK integration. It'll be perfect to use Garmin

Yes, I too have camped, but only till Friday afternoon. I leave for a 1200 mile trek across North America and into Canada at 6pm tomorrow. Inputing my waypoints was tricky with the osk I modded from my skin (Teknik2) this evening. The backspace key is useless to clear data that is already in the text-box, so that took some real polish engineering to get around. Also the fact that a my osk is a separate skin screen, and you cannot see the info going to the text box sux. Plus the mine takes up the whole screen and has 7 useless for Garmin buttons on it.....
So here I wait.......
