what i can do then is 1 app with 2 cams front / reverse , if it makes it smoother a button to switch between the 2 cams then only 1 cam is running at 1 time , but this will give another issue switching time , the time it takes to switch cams from front to back .

then a single app ( as is now ) for the 3rd cam as its use will have nothing to do with the car in motion.

$200 so thats £130 uk mm not bad ,

spying on passengers na not me lol......

like you say lets see how far you can go without loseing what you have now, once i get
my system back up and running and get off this PII lappy i can start to test this out .
and just in case i'm xp through all my systems hate vista. good looking and some really good features but man its a hog.

You need to register AxInterop.XVIDEOOCXLib.dll
But If it has Interop prefix that menas you are looking at the unextracted source files. So you need to run the installer first if there is no errors you have to search your comp for XVIDEOOCXLib.dll and register that file. If you cant find that file try regitring both:

AxInterop.XVIDEOOCXLib.dll
XVIDEOOCXLib.dll

technicaly they should be placed in the app root directory or in System32 directory.

PS: I think library is using DirectX 8.1 and is that is the case I dont think vista has those files? I think vista only comes with DX9, 10 files so that could couse the probelm too

Carputer1, its most likly be one single app with all features in it. I'm if i'll have multiple project i would have hard time fixing bugs in all of them

I will try to get first 2 camera version soon, but i'm geting time issues and after all i have to make money for leaving too ;-) and i spent last 4 days onlyt doing this thingie

any way;

fror now the schedule is following:
1. add GPS overlys from RR
2. add GPS log file
3. add 2nd camera support
4. add direct GPS connection possibility
5. add GPS + Video Player to see both map and video on the same screen for videos that we recorded with the camera
6. add external config utility so u dont hve to mess with .ini file that is 20 lines of setings and mos likely to grow 300 lines
7. Check if it is suitable to go to better lib
8. get some menety and translate it to C++ project for better speed (I dont do C++ myself so i will have to hire some one)

about the multiple cameras, you could take the multiple videos combine them on the video buffer and then display and save one video. Then you could have hard coded values for the video displays arrangement
full size for one video
50% side by side for 2 videos
25% 4 cell grid for 3 or 4 videos
etc...

are going to make the source code public?

combining video in one stream is not possible in the curent libary nor i really se any resons of doing that as i would have to increase the resolution and that would drop your fps unless u got MMX 3 capabilities on ur PC... Most via mobos dont use MMX and VIA is most popular carpc mobo... so id rather stick with separate streams.

As to the code, sorry i'll keep it private for now as it is hot thingie and our company in direct business of mobile security so i cant release it.

RCHD 0.1.4.2 was released ... try it out (download from the first post)

basic change log: added configurable sounds to start/stop video recording and photo snapshot

Known Issues:
-Audio relys on DirectX audio playback and DX has a memory leak for this function so we have to
cut off audio after some time to avid memory leaks. I didnt see to much of them but ffShow was
started each time i request audio and it was only closed when the app is closed, The car computing
assumes the app will be open all the time so i did dirty garbadge collecting afther 5 sec (we just close all audio and
release memory)

If you dont like to be at risk you can simply disable audio in config file and you will not be at reask of memory leaks

I know about an issue ;-) and if i find better way to handle sounds I will fix the problem

ok, support for RR GPS has been added (build is not posted yet)
Now I think it would be reasonable to add RR overly before i go and add much more advanced functionality

ok i hvae played around with fotoshop and here is something that would look like w/ RR skin. I did not do the skin as i have no idea how to build it from scratch yet,... but I hope I learn that

I got stuck with doing overly... I can run my app from the button, but the skin doesnt load

Also how can I accept comands from the RR skin to be parsed in my app?

Hope some one help me out with skins

You can send commands to your app with SENDMSG.

Code:

When you're going to support SENDMSG it'd be cool if the buttons in the RCHD-GUI could be hidden, as they're not needed.

Ok thats how I send message from RR GUI to my APP,
but how to I listen to it in my VB application? Is that the same sendmessage as linux socket api? Also how can I send status message back to RR?
