yes it is possible to integrate if some one will help me with the skin...
if there is no skin it is still touch friendly, (just use proper settings in GUI Config, i think defaults were left to be like a skinned app)

Today i have tested my app in the field... I used $30 USB wecams (that we sale by the way)... it was kinda cool cameras where mounted outside with magnetic loaks. I felt like im shooting the movie. well i did in a way.

I had 1Ghz car pc and it seamed that FPS were a bit low ~ 12-15 but on awarage camera caught all the traffic behaviour. (Speaking of camera that was 1.3MPix camera capble of 1024x768 video resolution at 15FPS but i was using 640x480 @ 30fps)

Well i think after all project looks nice. However i pried the direct access to the camera and i got full 32fps which means there will be an extreme upgade some time soon to boost the performance and get rid of that VideoX library that prevents use of all on Windows Vista. Bad news is that it will be a bit complex so app will be most likely go for money, well but I promice segnificant discount to Mp3car community. Also i'm thinking about C++ version of the product to boost performance to the max. And yes for 6-10 cameras DVR for cars i think car pc runing windows may be to much to hadle so i will check with hardware guys to see if we can develop a hardware compression bord so video would be compresed there and just placed on HDD... i'll talk about that idea bit later when i get patent approved ;-)

Oh yes another thing, i'm negotiating with one of the manufacturers about 5x5x3 mm cameras 640x480 @ 60fps auto forcust to infinity. Very interesting model if i can get thos then it would be nice for car pc as they are so small so we can install them everywhere...

OK here it comes, I'm gonna start working on new version of Road Camera HD v2.0.

All unfinished features of previous version will be included in V2. + The goal is to get 120FPS!!!!!!! on single camera or 60FPS on 2 separate cameras.

This project will be much harder then previous one so it will take some time to see some first samples. Well updates are comming soon

Ok so here it goes first build of Road Camera HD is availabe on first page... There are no useful features as it was only prove of concept for new engine base... but so far: CPU usage is 50% less then V1, also FPS suppoer is up to 120 frames for one camera. Also this one is compatible with Vindows Vista. What else.. oh yes since we get girect access to video camera there are no way to do print screen

on anotherhand thats why cpu usage is smaler.

Great work with the cam.

Very intrested in this.

I have set it up working great on XP with my logitech notebook cam (at 7fps, otherwise the playback was to fast!!)

I have installed the previous version (0.3.0.0) and I have been getting an intermittent error when taking a picture. (as attached) It seems to save a .jpg file, but thats blank (i.e black).

I was also going to try and knock up a skin for Road Runner. I'm new to skining so your have to bear with me! What commands does your app take if I use the sendmsg command from Road Runner?

hmm the only thinng that can cause still pix error wouuld be not enough RAM or HDD is full

... oh ye try to disable sounds when u press the button (use GUI config to disable sounds) the can crush the thingie due to memory leak... otherwise i cant really debug the old version...

As to low FPS on logitech cams, that can be due to special feature on webcams... is there is low lighting they will slow down FPS... try to increase lighting and see the fps rade goes up

As to the commands that my app accepst there are non... if you tell me how to make my app to accept comands i will add that in V2 release

Thanks for getting back so quick tempgp.

I disabled the sound and I still have the same problem with the error taking a photo. I uninstalled and reinstalled and it still happens. I have enough HDD and memory so that shouldn't be causing it. It does create a jpg file in C:\RoadCameraHD which is dated and timestapmed it's just black. (and sometimes it does take the pic) Not to worry if it can't be fixed.

I'm not a developer (I'm a Senior Tester) so I'm not sure what needs to be done to enable RR and your app to work together. All I know is that there is a "sendmsg" command you can use within Road Runner to send a command to other apps. (so for example you would have a button called "exit" on the Road Camera HD skin (skin used in RR) which when pressed would send the "sendmsg" command <"sendmsg; "exit"> ("exit" being the command your app excepts)

This is just my basic understanding of how it works, someone with Road Runner development skills would be able to explain it better. Guino is the creator of Road Runner and would be able to explain what you need to do.

Keep up the good work tempgp. If you could make this skinable through Road Runner, then I'm sure everyone would switch from RRCam.

If jpeg is created (randomly) then I would assume there should be something that preventing the pix from being taken... um maybe some sort of process on ur system... not really sure...

Well V2 is completly new engine so I'll try to make sure that wont happen in new version...

As to skinable and "commandable" functions of V2, I will put my efforts to get it working. First releases of V2 will be standalone functionality concept prooves and then will add all RR integrations.

I like the project so far. I am looking for an RR plug-in that would use 4+ cameras and yours looks to be the closest to it. I hope you have a multi-camera version out soon. Keep up the good work.

I've been trying this out with my ps3 eyecam and it's working pretty good. The problem I have though is when I resume from standby the picture freezes. Can you add support for standby/resume?
I can give you a hand with skinning. You will have to setup up Road Camera to receive send message commands and add a fullscreen mode so all the buttons can be part of Road Runner instead.

hmm hibernate issue is easy to fix but hard to debug... VS.net doesnt like to hibernate itself.. so I better get it right from the forst time =)

tell me how I enable RR for sendmasage, and how the messagesare being sent? any protocoll or something?

i assume you have already read this and looked at the example on how to make a extenstion plugin and base plugin , this is the way to go , im no coder but these links should give you a good idea, maybe when finished offer it for the RRplugin manager to deal with the installing and so on.
