you're going to somehow tie in CoverMess with the plugin? I'm interested in how that will work. Skinning for the plugin in general is pretty straight forward. Blue's made it really flexible in that you can skin the features you use. Some of my skins have ALL of the features like VPLs and virtual cds. My most recent non-flash really only has RM_Media.skin, the builder skin, and a few popups for things like browse list selection/search options.
I'm getting my Dg45FC and 3.0ghz core 2 duo today. I cant wait to try CoverMess in the car.

I'm not even sure what or how I will integrate in rr media, but something like dynamically loading covermess with 5 star rated albums or rock genre etc....
congrats on the new system! hope she works good for ya, let us know how it goes!

please, leave it as flexible as possible, some people use different ways to load music, i love this concept and i would like to see it grow, but if most people agree well don't pay attention to this...

Don't worry guys, the main focus is to integrate it with the base rr, it's practically there!
Thundersticks script is on the right track, all I'd really want is for it to pick up the currently browsed directory and create an xml file from there..
Some other things I'm thinking..
- Back covers (or flash ilist) with nice flip animation
- Some type of genre selection method (looking for cool swf's for this)
- Alphanumeric selection
- customize view of covermess through swf name, as done with my other flash objects
ie. initial size of covers, button size alpha and color, animation speed, font size-type etc...these are pretty easy to do, i've got reusable code for this
- randomize/scatter/makemess button...
- i'd like a mode where the covers are imported directly into the swf, ie no xml file, not sure if this can be done efficiently in actionscript...

Um...how much more flexible do you want? Use the old boring, out dated audio brower or RRMedia...

Hey Blue, not sure who fixed discardable, but if it was you, thx, works great, I can now manage my memory footprint...
Regarding RRMedia, haven't had a chance to tinker with it, does it work if my files are not tagged properly? My mp3's, flac's, wav's right now are all over the frickin place (hence covermess ) .. I've been holding off from using your plugin because of this.
All my music is in folders under D:\music but I have no real organization of my folder structure..

HAVE FUN and enjoy
It only put 3 or 4 folders in my XML file.
I know I've only got a few dozen folder.jpg files throughout my whole collection, but it only seemed to graba few dirs.
Can the script be made to look for any *.jpg? I know a few also say Album.jpg, front.jpg, etc.

lol.
Can the script be made to still list directories that have NO suitable graphic, and instead, simply list the Title of the Album/Directory on the CD Cover.
That way, you wont prevent access to folders without album art, it just wont look as nice. You can also fix it when you know what doesnt have art, rather than it simply not appearing.

i dont use the regular RR browser(Boring), i use my own, why not just have a "RELOAD" command, that way, just the xml can be updated, and then "RELOAD" will pick up the new data, building the xml is not a problem at all.

Thunders script didn't work for me either, hopefully he is coming up with v2
If I had time , I could code something up, but I'm a little bit swamped...
Right now covermess will only display a folder.jpg. If you specify a folder in your xml file that doesn't have a folder.jpg, a blank cd cover with the folder name will appear and work normally. I plan on adding support for custom jpg names, just not sure how to do right now.

Cool, I'm going to clean up and tag some files for test purposes and start messing around with it.

Perhaps cause I have dirs that have subdirs that have subdirs, and none are actual albums yet.
eg/ E:/Music/Electronic/Chemical Brothers/Chemical Brothers - Come With Us/ *files*
within that final folder I have the MP3s (and sometimes the folder.jpg).

The swf can do this, see my response a couple of posts above, thunders script seems to be buggy, but a script can be made to do this.
My idea of this browser was mostly for a gee wiz, that's cool, kinda thing, I don't think , at least right now, it's good for throwing to many albums at it at once, maybe like 20 at a time. One could setup a button to launch 20 of there fav rock/disco/hip hop or what ever group of cd's to show off how cool a carpc can get..
