Use serial port with extension plugin???

Hi guys, I think I've read all threads about extension plugin but I can't find anyone that include using serial port. I,m trying to interface a BasicStamp module with roadrunner, but I cant even start becouse I cant use serial ports. I try with some libraries but they just dont work. Is it posible tu use the MSComm32.osx in the extension plugin???
Please if anyone know samething about this just tell me. I need help

Thankz guys!
Best regards for you from Argentina

yes you can. I've written a couple of extension plugins that talk to picaxes (similar to stamps) through a serial port via mscomm32.ocx -just don't try and use a com port that roadrunner is already using

Holy crap, you're from Cordoba dude ? I have a few really good friends there and in fact I was there visiting in August!

To answer your question, yes, you can use the serial port from extension plugins, using the standard mscomm control or by importing and using the functions in modSerial.bas from RR's sources. Either way should work, but to use the mscomm thing you'll have to add a form and use: load form1 (or whatever) to load it without displaying it, then you can access it's functions.

Hi guino!, I knew you were on holidays but I didn't knew you were coming to Cordoba!. I'm one of yours fan. I hope that los cordobeses have treated you very well. i would have liked to meet you but, i'm sure it gone be a next time.

this evening I'll continue fighting against vb6, i'm not a pro in vb but i've got faith. so, if in the class module I put load form1 then I can use for example MSComm1.output="AT+EVD=[]" in the class module???

thanks guino for all your time and work here!.
And please, if you come to Cordoba again call me, so we can go out for some beers or some caipirinas togheter!!

from the plugin class module you should put load form1 on the Initialize sub and then just use Form1.mscomm1.xxxx from anywhere else in the plugin. also place a unload form1 in the Terminate sub of the plugin class to make sure the plugin unloads nicely.

PS: had one of the best times in Cordoba, I'll def. be back when I can.
