I haven't experienced this, and believe me, I have tried to flush out the bugs from this plugin.

Question: Does the skin you're using have both a DL list AND a PL list?

That would be one thing that I'd check. Most of the exp skinners put a pl deff in every screen whether its visible or not other wise you'll run into little problems such as this.

What is a DL list and a PL list?

I've tried this on both the RRMedia test skin provided with the plugin and DigitalFX 4.0. I get the same problem on both.

Was this examined any closer? I am running into similar problems with character " ' " (ie: 7' mix). This problem, which existed for the orignial version, was fixed with v1.2. Not sure what changed with v1.2.2

Of course, it is also likely I am messing something up.... If so please let me know.

I am stumped. I am trying to get Digital FX 4.0 running after installing it for the first time (never tried any other version of this skin either). I was especialy attracted to the Media browsing built in. But I am unable to get the build db option to work. When I try and build DB it fails with error "ActiveX component can't create object". It also does this if I try and run the RMBuilder.exe from the RMDatabase folder.
I have tried installing/running on two systems and they both fail in the same way.
I made sure I ran the latest Road_Runner_Setup.exe and even went and grabbed the RRMedia 1.2.2 installer and ran that. No luck. Any ideas?

Edit: I fixed this. Apparently one doesn't get ALL the files one needs from the digital FX 4.0 install or the RRMedia 1.2.2 Patch. I solved it by grabbing the RRMedia 1.2.2 Full install and running that.

After you get the error, look in the RMDatabase folder and see whats in the debug_builder.txt file.

I think I solved it. See my edit to the post above this.
The scanning is happening now on my CarPC. I got it to work fine on my HomePC (test machine). I did get an error on my CarPC (said something about it couldn't find RMBuilder.exe. I said OK on that dialog then tried again. It seems to be processing now. <shrug>

I spoke too soon. It wasn't moving so I exited to see the dialog again...saying it couldn't find the RMBuilder.exe (but it IS there).

Debug file says:
11/7/2015 7:38:18 PM: RRMedia Builder> MediaInfo communitation OK!
11/7/2015 7:39:03 PM: RRMedia Builder> File not found

Edit: more info.
It finds the music path and counts the files, then it says scanning...and then 200 files (...Checking file list) into my 2022 it fails with that error message. Window title is "Main" and the message is "File not found RMBuilder" The only button is OK.

BTW, before that last message I tried uninstalling then installing, then rebooting.
I thought it might be related to the date being wrong. The date was being set incorrectly by the GPS. I fixed that but that didnt fix the RMBuild error.

Quick update to my problem.
On the theory that the problem was related to some music file I had, I pointed winamp and RR at a directory with only one album in it. I was then able to build the DB just fine. So now I just have to sift through all my media and try and determine which file is causing the problem.

Edit: I was able to solve my problem by finding all files with " ' " in them and removing the single quote from the file name and the track title.

Hi Blue,
I think something is not right with the unicode support in your plugin (which is great otherwise!).
I have a lot of titles tagged with cyrillics (russian).
They are shown correctly in most of the pages of most of the the skins (including your demo).
Your demo skin uses unicode fonts throughout.
Just 1 page - RM_Media.skin (one of the essential ones..) does not show the unicode correctly.

Half-a$$ed solution - replace unicode fornt with non-unicode Win98 style font with Russian codepage 1251.

Please see below:

RM_Media.skin (bad. Arial font used)

Audio_Playlists.skin (good. Arial font used)

Audio_Player.skin (good. Arial font used)

RM_Media.skin - FIXED (good. non unicode font used)

Would it be possible to fix this? To fully support unicode?

Thanks!

Database bug that was discovered after using EL CAMINO's MP3 Tag editor:

i.e.
Albums before tag edit:
Splinter
splinter

I use EL CAMINO's MP3 tag editor to change "splinter" to "Splinter" and rescan database afterwards.

Albums rescan after tag edit:
Splinter
splinter

I delete the database file in $musicpath$ and re-build database.

Albums after delete and rebuild dbase after tag edit:
Splinter

I've confirmed this with the Artist & Album list display (RM_Artist & RM_Album). Haven't tried Genre.

Once again I am stumped on this.
The issue is that the database builds but I do not get tagging info for my Flac files in my skin (Using Digital FX skin). I got winamp reading the flac tags fine. I am not sure the skin pulls the tags from the DB or from winamp. All I know is that winamp has the tag info but my skin doesn't. I don't see any errors when I build the RRMedia DB. It seems to build fine.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Try putting a copy of the "MediaInfo.dll" from the "Road Runner\RMDatabase\Support Files" folder in the RoadRunner folder and see if then your taginfo shows up. If there is already one in your roadrunner folder, just replace it as the one that comes with this plugin is newer that the one the might come with RR installer. RR does not nativly support non mp3/wma formats, but putting that file in RR dir will allow rr to read all kinds of different tag formats. I have brought this up to mitch and he will be including it with the next update installer..

And as far as this plugin is concerned....I am making my way back to continue working on this, just trying to finish up some of the other projects as once i start working on this again it will be the only thing i will be working on as it is a type project that isn't easy to just jump in and out quickly.
