Maybe you could try creating a test library of only 10 tracks or so, see if that works. Then bump it to 100, etc. If it fails, try a different batch of 100. That should at least narrow it down to a song issue or a DB issue.

I guess I could try that as well! Still I'd rather be able to see exactly what song it is, instead of trying to narrow it down from roughly 12,000 songs.

I didn't mean to use that to narrow down specifically what song, but rather to see whether it fails on any 10 songs, or if you can build a full database of 10, 100, 1000, whatever songs. Say you put one song in your music path, if the builder still fails then there is something deeper going on than just a bad song. But, if you can generate a working DB with a small sample of songs, you could use that as a starting point.

Getting the debug info working is your best bet on pinpointing the song...

I just installed the DigitalFX skin on my friends carputer (with a current ver. of RR on it) and it also crashes when creating the DB. His crashed @ 72% (of a total of ~3400 songs).

Only thing we have in common is we're both running the same type of computer... A dual core Atom based system.

This doesn't make any sense and very frustrating.

Alright just tried Digital FX 4 on my IBM laptop... it also fails!

I was able to build a DB of approx 300 soings, it did that in 0.2 sec (the DB file was approx 247KB btw)... When I added more songs, it agian failed and the DB size was at 27KB just like every other time the DB creation fails, no matter on what computer.

What am I missing? 3 different computers, 2 different Music lists, 4 different music sizes (# of songs) all fail.

All have the latest RR ver. installed. My carputer as the latest RRMedia ver. installed... All are running WinAmp 5.13 as recommended.

Some time latter today i'll post some further instructions as how we can get this hopefully settled.. I hope, got to get the debug log working as it should show the file(s) that are causing it to crash.

Appartently, you both have one or more files that are causing it to crash, your's being closer to the begining of the scanning process and his being towards the end.

One way to maybe help narrow the location of the fubar'd file(s) would be to
go into the support files folder and open up the scannedfiles.txt and take the total number of lines(aka song count) times the percent it crashes at minus one percent. Then move all the folders from those number of lines that are good (not crashing on) to somewhere outside of the musicpath then try a new fresh scan which then should make it crash very early in the scanning process, like within the first few percent. Then recheck the scannedfiles.txt. Repeating the above till you have it scanning and not crashing in the first few percent. Once you can get it to this point, the last few folder(s) that you moved from the musicpath contain the file(s) that are causing it to crash. Not a great n easy way but until we can get the debug log going is the only way to figure out which file is causing this.

Example using your figures from the above posts

Lines from file: 12000
Percent stoped at: 24%

12000 * .23 = 2760

Move the folders that are in the first 2760 lines.
Copy the scannedFiles.txt to another loc for future reference b/c it will be deleted on next fresh scan.
Delete db file
Begin scan again
If the scan stops within the first few percent, should really be like 1-2%. Then your problem file is some where in the first 92(1%) or 184(2%) lines of the new scannedfiles.txt file lines.
If it continues to scan w/o stopping in first few percent then your problem file lies in the bottom of the previous moved lines folders, and using the copied txt file, looking at the lines starting from line 2760 and going up towards the top.

Again not the easiest or best way but is one way to figure out the problem file.

You must have one or more of the same files that are on all of these comps that is causing it to crash..

The good news is that at least you have shown that you can create a small db, meaning there is no problem with the install, just with one of your music files somewhere...

^^^^ I stated to go through all my music today... and let me tell you it took me approx 2 hrs to figure out just one folder. The other folder so far took me another almost 2 hrs to figure out two files, and there's more. I beg you please find out how to let me know what file it's stopping on lol... this is unpossible to continue like this.

Curious

I was curious if there was an ETA on the next release, the volume issue on disk changes is driving me crazy
Cheers

I wish I could give an ETA but those usually never work out, something almost always finds its way into the time line and pushes things back...
